Bus4Life at the Beach
For the third year in a row, OM’s Bus4Life headed down to the holiday resort of Lake Balaton at the end of August, for the Christian Conference ‘Balaton-Net’. This four-day conference has become an event that seeks to provide Christians a small window for rest, relaxation and great teaching, and the small town of Balatonszemes on the shores of Lake Balaton is the ideal location for that. Its not just Hungarians that attend the conference - people from all over the region and as far away as Germany and the UK attend regularly. ‘Net-Beach’ was supported by a group of American students who helped with the fun and games near the bus each afternoon.
Over the four days, hundreds of people stopped by and joined in the free entertainment, naturally asking questions about the bus, who we were, and what we do.
The giant slip-slide and various games attracted kids and adults to the Bus4Life near the lake side each afternoon. For the not so active, there were table games and craft activities, and a first for this year was a sand castle competition.
It was a time fore kids to have fun and relationships to be built with parents as they watched the various programmes. Gospel tracts specifically for kids, as well as the Billy Graham ‘Steps to Peace with God’ leaflet were given to many people at the end of each day, and as a result of conversations, some even attended the evening meetings held in the local school.
