What God wants - Hong Kong

"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8) 

To Act Justly? The number of Indonesian domestic helpers in Hong Kong is constantly increasing. Many agencies, in their bid to win more customers, illegally exploit the wages the helpers deserve and require them to agree to some unreasonable arrangements. Sadly, there are even some Christians amongst these unjust employers. Not only are their actions illegal, but they also bring the name of our God to shame. 

To Love Mercy! The impression many people have of Indonesian domestic helpers is that they are relatively submissive and teachable, but slower in learning and doing tasks. Hong Kong people require efficiency in all things; so they misunderstand the helpers as 'stupid' or 'lazy'. However, some fair Christian employers are willing to be patient and gracious toward their helpers. In the end, not only do they find a good helper for their families, but they also gain a sister for God's House! 

To Walk Humbly with God: God has blessed Hong Kong's economy thereby enabling most people to hire domestic helpers. Currently there are 130,000 Indonesian domestic helpers in Hong Kong, with 80% or more being Muslim. A loving, humble attitude toward these helpers produces amazing, life transforming results. Are we willing to walk humble with God to fulfill the Great Commission?

LO QUE DIOS ESPERA – Hong Kong

“¡Ya se te ha declarado lo que es bueno! Ya se te ha dicho lo que de ti espera el Señor: Practicar la justicia, amar la misericordia, y humillarte ante tu Dios.” (Miqueas 6:8)

¡Practicar la justicia! El número de trabajadoras domésticas indonesias en Hong Kong crece constantemente. Muchas agencias, en la puja por ganar clientes, explotan ilegalmente el sueldo de estas personas obligándolas a firmar acuerdos irrazonables. Tristemente también hay cristianos entre estos empleadores injustos. No sólo actúan ilegalmente sino que traen vergüenza al nombre de nuestro Dios.

¡Amar la misericordia! La impresión que muchos tienen de estas trabajadoras domésticas indonesias es que son relativamente sumisas y se les puede enseñar, pero son lentas en aprender y trabajar. Las personas de Hong Kong requieren eficiencia en todas las cosas. Por lo tanto piensan que dichas trabajadoras son ‘tontas’ o ‘perezosas’. Sin embargo algunos empleadores cristianos están dispuestos a tener paciencia y gracia hacia estas trabajadoras. Al final, no sólo encuentran una buena ayuda para sus familias, ¡sino también ganan a una hermana para la casa de Dios!

Humillarse ante Dios: Dios ha bendecido la economía de Hong Kong y de ese modo hay personas que pueden contratar un servicio doméstico. Actualmente hay 130 000 trabajadoras domésticas indonesias en Hong Kong, 80 % o más de ellas son musulmanas. Una actitud de amor y humildad hacia ellas produce vidas maravillosamente transformadas. ¿Estamos dispuestos a humillarnos ante Dios para cumplir la Gran Comisión?
