Sunita*, the Nun - Nepal

OM International
Sunita, a 20-year old Buddhist nun, was working in the monastery kitchen when we first met her. She was very shy, spoke little Nepali, and covered her face with her hands whenever we addressed her. Her highest aspiration for the future was “to be a good nun, and live her whole life in the monastery.”

When we visited her the second time, Sunita greeted us warmly and told us of  her plans to leave the monastery to take care of her mother in Europe. We spent time sharing Jesus’ love with her. A few months later, Sunita left the monastery and started attending a Tibetan church fellowship where, after a few months, she made a decision to follow Jesus.

Sunita now helps an OM team member with household chores, and is helped, in return, with her school fees. She is studying so she can read the Bible and learn more about the ways of God.

*Sunita is not her real name
