Equipped to serve!
On 11 April 2010, six months of daily lectures, monthly missions trips, children’s work, teenager’s work, preaching, fasting, Bible verse memorisation, cooking, cleaning and snow shoveling came to an end for the nine students of the OM Russia Discipleship Centre. As always, the group was made up of a variety of young people: orphans, former drug addicts, new Christians, as well as more experienced church members and those with a good secular education. So, after six months intensive discipleship and exposure to Jesus’ Great Commission, what lies ahead for these nine? For some the future is uncertain, but others already have made plans:
Igor and Tanya are moving to the Siberian town of Kemerova with their two children to start a new Christian fellowship there for the deaf and dumb community.
Dima plans to travel to one of the towns in the Novosibirsk area where there is no church. The town of Kubishev has a population of about 30,000 people, and very few Christians. He will join a small group which is attempting to start a new Christian fellowship there.
Tanya is getting a job as a nanny, but plans to join the Logos Hope in January.
Marina will continue being a member of the OM Russia team and will be involved in visiting orphanages, old people’s homes, feeding the homeless and organising children’s holiday clubs.
Georgi is going back to his home town of Rubsovsk in Southern Siberia where he will get married, and would like to be involved in reaching out to children and teenagers with some others from his church.
Please pray for these young people as they step out in faith and obedience to put into practice and use what they have learnt over the last six months.
