Dear partners in prayer,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though we seem to be in control, we are actually dependent upon God in many situations greater than ourselves. The volcanic ash saw me on the beautiful island of Bermuda, visiting the Logos Hope and speaking at our annual ships partnership weekend. Win and I were delayed for five days and, though this meant cancelling important meetings in the UK, it was an excellent opportunity to spend time with a number of people onboard. It was great to see that lovely vessel in operation and to thank God again for His provision of people and finance—and to thank you again for your support which has made this a reality.

We have also recently been notified of a most generous gift from a partner foundation which enables us to move forward with the iConnect software project. This is another wonderful answer to prayer, and I appreciate your continued prayer for this project that this money might be applied wisely and result in an effective tool for our larger offices that complements our in-house systems.

Once again I would appreciate your prayers on the matters which follow from our work around the world.

Transform 2010: With soon less than 100 days to go, there are currently 37 options available in 19 different countries across the Mediterranean region. Pray for funding to enable pastors and others from the region to participate; for a breakthrough in recruiting, and for OM fields who are still considering whether to host a team. “Transform 2010 is exciting because through it a woman in a Near East village will read the gospel for the first time, a child in Spain will find out that Jesus loves him, and hundreds of people will see with their own eyes that the fields are white unto harvest, and so be called to pray and to give their lives.” (OM Near East Field Leader) Visit www.transform.om.org to download prayer profiles for each country, and much more.

M EAST/Romania: “You brought those Bibles into Romania under communism?” asked Dani, a Romanian who now works with OM. In the 1980s, OM EAST (formerly Greater Europe) distributed tens of thousands of Romanian Bibles while Dani was the local secretary of the communist party. She had taken one of the Bibles, wrapped it in newspaper, and carried it with her wherever she went. When asked why, she responded, “Because I believed that it would bring me good luck!” She came to faith about ten years ago and her life has never been the same.

OM EAST’s partners in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) rejoiced over 2000 copies of ‘Right Choices Bibles’ by Josh and Dottie McDowell, which arrived one hour before OM EAST’s partners started a six-day trip to visit five Sakha churches. The books contain over 60 illustrated Bible stories that help children to make right choices. Adults also receive spiritual training from these books. The Sakha are the second largest indigenous people group in Siberia, in the largest autonomous republic of Russia. There are about 500 Sakha evangelical believers who continue to grow spiritually and in number, actively sharing the Gospel with their own people and neighbouring people groups who speak Sakha.

Ireland: Mickey Walker writes, “As Sam, John, John, Billy and I preached, a little nun stopped and listened attentively. When the message ended I offered her a tract, asked her name and what she thought of the message. She shared how recently she has suddenly become aware of God being a Father. She spoke with awe about how this made her feel, and how she wants to know more about Jesus. I shared my testimony and invited her for coffee.

May, 77, lives in a convent in Wexford, south of Dublin, and has been a nun for 56 years. The last few days have been filled with a sense of God's personal interest in her. We talked about sin and salvation and I showed her verses such as 1 John 5:11-13. She was delighted with God’s promise of eternal life. I asked her what she would say to God as to why she deserved heaven. She responded that, until today, she would have said "I’ve poured my life out daily for the people of Wexford, but now I understand things differently." Suddenly, she asked "Does this mean that I’m saved; I have eternal life?" When we said that all who trust in Jesus as Lord and Saviour can have this assurance, she raised her hands and said, "For the first time in 56 years I feel free, like I’ve been released from prison. I’m free!" We were speechless! We agreed to meet next week if she's back in town.

Lifehope (UK): “We talk about our faith almost every time we visit,” says Mary*, whose neighbour’s mother often shares her problems with the team. One day, the mother confessed, "I thought all white people were Christians but, since I have met you, I know that true Christianity is more: your religion is in your heart!" "We are able to talk to many people openly,” continues Mary. “God is giving more opportunities to witness. Women recognise us on the streets, in shops, at the swimming pool, and want to be our friends. I am so encouraged by the way God is working. It is not about us!” Lifehope’s community team works in a mainly Muslim area of Birmingham, and organises youth outreaches, weekly children's club, holiday clubs, Bible studies and a book table ministry to reach neighbours with God s love.

Spain: Every Monday, Christian (Austria) and a church team visit an empty warehouse in Valencia where over 80 Africans ‘camp’. Through friendship and practical help, they offer support. A phone call interrupted Christian’s work: one immigrant had been beaten and needed to go to hospital. “We soon realised that he’d overdosed and fallen, badly damaging his head,” said Christian. “We waited four hours at the hospital during his treatment. Wasted time? No! We had a really good talk, and he agreed to go to a Christian Rehabilitation Centre.” A few days later, Christian was on his way home and called in at a local park to bring some homeless people leftover bread. One man rushed up with a New Testament in his hand, exclaiming “Now I see that what you are doing here is exactly what Jesus did, and I want to know Jesus too! Can you take me to a place where I can learn more about Him, and come clean of drugs and alcohol?”

Austria: ‘Stimmfabrik’ is a school for singers in Vienna, founded by Richard Schmidt, who died unexpectedly from heart failure. His wife, Melanie, and Heartbeat band member, Andi, have rented a building, and now have 5 coaches (mostly Christian) and 150 students. “Our vision is to offer professional voice training, but also influence society through Christian values,” says Melanie. “When you work with someone on their voice, you go much deeper than just their vocal chords. The whole personality is involved; emotional blockages that hinder them from putting their heart into the interpretation of a song soon become obvious. We often engage in deep conversations about problems or hurts from the past, and have an open door to share about God’s help and healing power. “This place is like a church for me—more than most church buildings I know!” says Corinna, a student.

Germany: Despite a difficult childhood and subsequent drug problems, Jennifer (Jin) is a 21-year-old hairdresser who experienced God’s unconditional love through her brother’s mother-in-law, a Christian. Jin began to follow Jesus in January 2007 and soon felt compelled to share God with others condemned or abandoned by society. With the help of her church, she set up the ‘Atik’ (Circle of Atheists), a meeting place for people from all walks of life. Topics such as music, premarital sex or holy war are discussed every Friday morning. Based on the motto that “sharks are also fish” regardless of their dress, music preference, hairstyle or belief system, participants are encouraged to ask about God and the Bible. Currently twenty people attend regularly, two of whom have had their lives radically turned around.

Netherlands: ‘Sharing Lives’ is a course developed by Bert de Ruiter, OM Europe’s Muslim Ministries leader, to help Christians deal with their fear of Islam and/or Muslims, to teach them how to approach Muslims with grace and how to share their lives so that Muslims might discover the truth of the Gospel. In collaboration with a renewal movement within the Reformed Church, a Dutch version has been published; already available in English and German, the Sharing Lives course is being translated into French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Bosnian, Portuguese and Swedish. The first trainer’s conference was held in Switzerland in January. Additional conferences are to be held in the Netherlands, Russia and Bosnia later this year. Bert is also working on a version for Muslims, to help Muslims get a different perspective on Christianity and build friendships with Christians. Arabian Peninsula: One worker writes, “A friend and I bought plants for our front porch, which opened the door to our Palestinian neighbours from the majority faith. Normally, they avoided us; the wife ran when she saw us, just to avoid talking! When we came home with the plants, The husband called his wife and the four of us talked for more than half an hour! We learned that she can’t get pregnant (significant in Arab culture where having children is very much expected) and he had lost his job. We offered to pray for them and they agreed. What an open door God gave us through something as easy and simple as plants! Pray that this door will remain open and that God will bring many breakthroughs in this relationship!"

France: “Do you have an outreach during the school break?” Danielle, a complete stranger, wrote in January. We did, though it was only four days in which a handful of long-termers would do surveys, open-airs and literature distribution with a couple of church-planting pastors. We had not advertised for outside participants, but she was more than welcome to join us. It was soon obvious why God had sent her: Danielle spoke Turkish, the mother tongue of many immigrants in Montargis. She brought Turkish tracts with her and spoke to women in the market who didn’t understand French. Their eyes never failed to widen in surprise at this unveiled Frenchwoman who explained the gospel in their heart language. We sowed many seeds in French and Turkish in the town. Pray for fruit!

Turkey: I sat with a local brother in a café in Cappadocia, sharing the Good News with three men. At the next table a newspaper kept moving up and down—the reader was photographing us. As the three men left the café, a small group of civil police sat down beside us. The photographer continued to film us. We were relieved that their opening line was, “What you are doing is legal!”
The local brother and I left the café and went to another city. Over two days we met face-to-face with fifteen inquirers. One man had a New Testament but had never seen a Bible. It is not for sale in his city. He volunteered the cash price of the Bible to the local brother and trusted him to mail him one. I'm expecting such an inquirer to come to know the LORD. Pray for the follow up of inquirers. Pray for church planting movements to spread through Turkey.

Afghanistan: At a festival celebrating the prophet Mohammed’s birthday, a young man working as a guard was crying. He felt bad because he wasn’t a good person like the prophet. The believer listening to him said that there was a book he should read that would help him live a righteous life. The guard gladly received a New Testament and began reading. Later he expressed a desire to read the other books of God like the Torah and the Zabur (Old Testament). Now that the translation of the Bible has been completed, his request has become a reality. Pray for this young man that he would be drawn to the Lord through his word and the testimony of the lives of the people he is working for.

emerging mission movements

Mexico: OM led an outreach from 26 March to 2 April in Tapachula (Chiapas) with participants from El Salvador, Guatemala and the USA. The team has seen a great response from 11 local churches involved. Eighty people, including several pastors, participated in training arranged by OM. Although many stories from this relatively poor region in the south include poverty, drugs and violence, God has saved people from the streets and gangs and given them new lives. Evangelical churches in Chiapas are quite united. Please pray for follow-up and strengthened relationships between churches and OM.

Bangladesh: Graduation was exciting for the team, and another milestone in the effort to equip the growing church. Nine young believing women have been part of a three-month residential discipleship programme. In the morning they learned computer skills to help them find employment; in the afternoon and evening they studied and memorised God's Word. All finished with an assurance of faith and were equipped to teach and build up the church in their home areas. This is the first time the team has run such a programme solely for women. Please pray for these nine women as they go back to their homes to teach and build up the church in their local areas. Pray also that more will be discipled in their faith so that they too can encourage and build up the church.

relief & development

Ecuador: A ‘Preparing the Ground’ medical outreach to the southern Saraguro people took place from 17 to 24 April. Very few of these 32,000 highland people have been given the good news of Jesus. The National Prayer Network sent a team of intercessors before the outreach to pray. Gideon International placed Bibles in strategic places like schools and hostels. The local radio station announced free medical help regularly during the three weeks preceding the clinic, while the OM team gave advance evangelistic training to the local church. As specialists from the USA gave free consultations, a pharmacy offered free medicine and glasses. People waiting heard evangelistic programs and could watch the Jesus film. Follow up is being done in partnership with the local church. The OM team is hopeful this medical campaign will lead to mobilising the church in the south. Please pray that God will use this medical outreach to build relationships with people who will be receptive to His message.

pioneering initiatives

Malaysia: “This training was transformational,” said one of 29 participants at a recent AIDSLink Facilitators Training who had been involved in HIV and AIDS ministry for many years. Participants from 15 nations underwent an intensive 7-day training. AIDSLink International has now trained over 100 facilitators. ‘Channels of Hope’ enables participants to conduct HIV workshops, further involve themselves in HIV and AIDS ministries and start new ones. One participant shared, “I came to this training with a very big dream for an HIV/AIDS ministry. This has helped me crystallize my thinking and look to God in greater way.” AIDSLink International looks forward to hosting their first Spanish-language Facilitators Training later this year in El Salvador.

South Africa: The ‘Ultimate Goal Challenge’ outreach runs during the World Cup from 7 June to 12 July, concurrent with a TeenStreet program. Pray that these outreaches would bring many people into the kingdom of God. OM will offer training for churches and other organizations to equip them for ministry during the World Cup. Ask God to supply leaders and pray that this training will result in a good harvest in South Africa and in the whole world.

next generation

Australia (TeenStreet): “God was speaking to my heart every day. Loved the worship! My life is changed,” said one teen after attending the first-ever Australian TeenStreet, held in Sydney over Easter. Teens and adults were challenged by Dan and Suzie Potter to walk with ‘double vision’—looking up to God and looking out for others. The theme ‘Wild Kingdom’ was the background for a life-changing week of discipleship. “I was so happy to see the kids growing and changing every day,” said one leader. “I have led many camps, but this has been the best.” A second TeenStreet will be held in Queensland from 5 to 10 July. Praise God for the teens who attended; pray as they go back to their homes and inevitably face new challenges.

Think again: Volcanic ash and the hand of God

Eyjafjallajökull. Few of us can pronounce it, and until recently most of us would have no idea what was meant by that strange (to non-Icelandic eyes) combination of letters. But while life may have gone on more or less as normal for much of the world, for many of us in Europe the April eruption of the volcano under that glacier brought major disruption.

Why did we get that nudge?

I haven’t formally assessed how suspension of air travel in Europe impacted OM. A few meetings were rearranged. Some were able to find alternative travel home on suddenly crowded trains and ferries; others were delayed many days before returning to or from other continents. For my wife and I, life went on more or less as normal. We had originally planned to fly to the USA a bit earlier, but scheduled our flights for April 23—about 24 hours after flights resumed from Switzerland. We arrived with no complications having flown across the Atlantic on a plane that, ironically, had dozens of empty seats.

I thank God for that little nudge many weeks ago to reserve our seats for Wednesday, and not Tuesday; otherwise, who knows when we would have flown? But as I thank Him for guidance, I am reminded of Jesus’ words in Luke 13: the fact that we flew while others were stuck is no sign of our superior spirituality or greater sensitivity to God's guidance. Rather, I remember James’ warnings against boasting. Volcanic ash in Europe’s skies reminds me that I really don’t know what will happen tomorrow. No matter how well I plan, the caveat “if the Lord wills” is not just a pious expression to be added after we have already made our plans (James 4:13-17).

Like a hand in a glove

Many years ago, writing about the Indonesian revival of the 1960s, Avery Willis observed that God’s working in history is at times like a hand in a glove.¹ Whether tsunamis, earthquakes, or political revolutions, with time we may discern the results, yet it can be difficult to directly see God’s hand in such events. Further, it is improper to attribute to Him the blame for the evil of those catastrophes and disasters even when He uses them for His own purpose and glory.

More recently, Philip Jenkins has written about the demise of the great churches of the East. As he considers a theology of the disappearance of the Church he observes that “the fact that we cannot discern purpose or guidance in earthly events does not mean that none exists. To the contrary, we might argue that a purpose that can be easily traced would be evidence of a simple deity of brute strength more like those of pagan Greece or Rome, rather than the complex God of history presented by later faiths.”²

A missed wake-up call?

The closure of European airspace in April caused significant financial loss to some companies. Hundreds of thousands were inconvenienced, and doubtless some travelers were unable to reach home at a critical personal time. Yet, unlike the response to other recent catastrophes, I have heard few asking “Where was God?” Perhaps that was because money was lost and schedules upset, but no one (to my knowledge) died. I wonder, though: did Europe miss a wake-up call, a hint from God that our technology and systems are not as invulnerable as we think?

Shaking the dust off

What about ourselves? Doubtless we each affirm the sovereignty of God, even if our theology varies in detail. How robust, though, is our belief when put into practice? Perhaps that previously obscure volcano in Iceland can serve as a reminder of our need to shake a bit of dust off our missiology of how we serve God, as we plan and prepare for tomorrow, and for the next generation.

Saludos en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Aunque parece que estamos en control, en realidad dependemos de Dios en muchas situaciones que nos superan. La erupción volcánica me encontró en la hermosa isla de Bermuda, visitando al Logos Hope y compartiendo en nuestro fin de semana anual de amigos de los barcos. OM EAST1/Rumania: “¿Ingresaste esas Biblias en Rumania bajo el comunismo?” preguntó Dani, una mujer rumana que trabaja ahora con OM. En los ’80, OM Europa Oriental (antes Europa Extendida) distribuyó decenas de miles de Biblias en rumano mientras que Dani era secretaria local del partido comunista. Ella había tomado una de esas Biblias, la había envuelto en un periódico y la había llevado consigo a todas partes. Cuando le preguntaron porqué lo hizo, ella respondió: “¡Porque creía que me traería buena suerte!” Ella vino a la fe hace como diez años atrás y su vida nunca más fue la misma.

Una organización amiga de OM Europa Oriental en la República de los Sakha (Yakutia) se gozó al recibir 2000 copias de la ‘Biblia de las Decisiones Correctas’ de Josh y Dottie McDowell, que llegaron una hora antes de que comenzaran un viaje de seis días para visitar cinco iglesias sakhas. Los libros contienen más de 60 historias bíblicas ilustradas para ayudar a los niños a tomar decisiones correctas. Los adultos también reciben enseñanza espiritual a través de estos libros. Los sakha son el segundo grupo indígena más grande en Siberia, la mayor república autónoma de Rusia. Un día esta señora les confesó: “Yo pensaba que todos los blancos eran cristianos, pero al conocerlos a ustedes, me di cuenta que el verdadero cristianismo implica más: ¡la religión de ustedes está en el corazón!” “Podemos hablar abiertamente con muchas personas”, continúa diciendo Mary. “Dios nos está dando más oportunidades para compartir. Jin comenzó a seguir a Jesús en Enero de 2007 y pronto sintió la necesidad de compartir acerca de Dios con otros condenados o abandonados por la sociedad. Con la ayuda de su iglesia, ella organizó el ‘Atik’ (Círculo de Ateismo), un lugar de reunión para personas de toda clase de vida. Asuntos como música, sexo prematrimonial o guerra santa son debatidos cada Viernes por la mañana. Con el lema “los tiburones también son peces”, sin importar su estilo de vestimenta, preferencias musicales, cortes de cabellos o sistemas de creencias, los participantes son animados a preguntar acerca de Dios y de la Biblia. Actualmente veinte personas asisten regularmente, y dos de ellas han cambiado sus vidas radicalmente.

Pueblos Musulmanes

Países Bajos: ‘Vidas que Comparten’ es un curso desarrollado por Bert de Ruiter, líder de Ministerios Musulmanes de OM Europa, para ayudar a los cristianos a tratar sus miedos hacia el Islam y/o los musulmanes, para enseñarles cómo acercarse a los musulmanes con gracia y cómo compartir sus vidas para que los musulmanes puedan descubrir la verdad del evangelio. En colaboración con el movimiento renovador de la Iglesia Reformada, se ha publicado una versión en holandés y ya está disponible en inglés y alemán. El curso ‘Vidas que Comparten’ está siendo traducido al francés, español, italiano, ruso, portugués y sueco. La primera conferencia de entrenadores se llevó a cabo en Suiza en Enero. Se realizarán nuevas conferencias en Países Bajos, Rusia y Bosnia durante este año. Bert también está trabajando en una versión para musulmanes, a fin de que ellos tengan una perspectiva diferente acerca del cristianismo y busquen amistad con cristianos. La visión de Bert es que cada musulmán en Europa tenga por lo menos un amigo cristiano. Península Arábiga: Un obrero escribió: “Mi amigo y yo compramos plantas para nuestro jardín, y esto abrió las puertas para nuestros vecinos palestinos. Normalmente, ellos nos esquivaban, la esposa corría cuando nos veía, ¡sólo para evitar conversar! Cuando volvimos con las plantas, el esposo llamó a su esposa y los cuatro hablamos durante más de media hora. Nos enteramos de que ella no puede quedar embarazada (muy importante en la cultura árabe donde tener hijos es muy esperado) y él había perdido su trabajo. Les ofrecimos orar por ellos y accedieron. ¡Qué puerta abrió Dios a través de algo tan simple como plantas! ¡Ora para que la puerta permanezca abierta y que Dios nos haga crecer en esta relación!”

Francia: “¿Tienen una campaña durante las vacaciones escolares?”, me escribió Danielle, una persona totalmente desconocida para mí. Teníamos un programa de sólo cuatro días con un puñado de obreros de largo plazo que harían encuestas, programas al aire libre y distribución de literatura trabajando junto a un par de pastores plantadores de iglesias. Y aunque, no habíamos abierto la posibilidad para otros participantes,  le respondí que estaríamos muy contentos si ella participa. Pronto nos dimos cuenta porque Dios la había enviado: Danielle habla turco, la lengua materna de muchos inmigrantes en el pueblo donde tendríamos el programa. Ella trajo folletos en turco y habló con mujeres en el mercado que no entienden francés. Estas mujeres estaban muy sorprendidas de que esta mujer francesa, que no usaba velo, les explicara el evangelio en el idioma de sus corazones. Pudimos sembrar muchas semillas en francés y turco en el pueblo de Montargis. ¡Ora por los frutos!

Turquía: Me senté con un hermano en un café de Capadocia, para compartir las Buenas Nuevas con tres hombres. En otra mesa, un periódico se movía hacia arriba y hacia abajo. La persona que estaba leyendo nos estaba fotografiando. Cuando los tres hombres se fueron, un pequeño grupo de policías civiles se sentaron con nosotros. El fotógrafo siguió filmándonos. Nos sentimos aliviados al oírlos decir: “¡Lo que están haciendo es legal!”

El hermano local y yo nos fuimos del café y viajamos a otra ciudad. Dos días después nos encontramos cara a cara con quince personas que querían saber más. Uno de ellos tenía un Nuevo Testamento pero nunca había visto una Biblia. No se vende en su ciudad. Ofreció pagarle una Biblia al hermano local y confiar en que él se la enviaría por correo. Espero que alguno de ellos llegue a conocer al SEÑOR. Ora por el seguimiento de aquellos que buscan la vedad. Ora por el movimiento de plantación de iglesia para que se esparza en toda Turquía.

Afganistán: En un festival para celebrar el nacimiento del profeta Mahoma, un joven que trabajaba de guardia estaba llorando. Se sentía mal por no ser una buena persona como el profeta. El creyente que lo estaba escuchando le dijo que hay un libro que le ayudaría a ser una persona justa. El guarda recibió agradecido un Nuevo Testamento y comenzó a leerlo. Más tarde expresó su deseo de leer otros libros de Dios como la Torah y el Zabur (Antiguo Testamento). Ahora que la traducción de la Biblia ha sido completada, su pedido se ha vuelto una realidad. Ora por este joven para que sea atraído al Señor a través de su palabra y el testimonio de las vidas de la gente para las que él trabaja.

Movimientos Misioneros Emergentes

México: OM lideró un programa del 26 de Marzo al 2 de Abril en Tapachula (Chiapas) con participantes de El Salvador, Guatemala y los EE.UU. El equipo pudo ver una gran respuesta de las 11 iglesias involucradas en el programa. Ochenta personas, incluyendo varios pastores, participaron del entrenamiento organizado por OM. Aunque muchas historias de esta región relativamente pobre del sur de México incluyen pobreza, drogas y violencia, Dios ha salvado personas de las calles, del vandalismo y les ha dado nueva vida. Las iglesias evangélicas en Chiapas están bastante unidas. Por favor ora por el seguimiento y el fortalecimiento de las relaciones entre las iglesias y OM.

Bangladesh: La graduación fue un momento emocionante para el equipo, y también un hito en el esfuerzo por equipar la creciente iglesia. Nueve hermanas han participado del programa de discipulado de tres meses. Durante las mañanas aprendieron computación, lo cual les ayuda a encontrar trabajo, en las tardes y las noches estudiaron y memorizaron la Palabra de Dios. Todas finalizaron con seguridad en su fe y fueron equipadas para enseñar y edificar la iglesia en sus áreas. Es la primera vez que se lleva a cabo un programa de este tipo sólo para mujeres. Por favor ora para que estas nueve mujeres que están de regreso en sus hogares, puedan enseñar y edificar la iglesia en sus áreas de influencia. Ora también para que muchos más sean discipulados en la fe y, de esta manera, puedan animar y edificar la iglesia.

Ayuda y Desarrollo

Ecuador: Del 17 al 24 de Abril, se desarrolló un programa médico para ‘Preparar el Terreno’ en Saraguro, al sur del país. Muy pocos de los 32 000 habitantes de este pueblo han recibido las buenas noticias de Jesús. La Red Nacional de Oración envió un equipo de intercesores antes de esta fecha para que estén orando en el lugar. Gedeones Internacionales dejaron Biblias en lugares estratégicos como escuelas y hoteles. La emisora de radio local anunció la atención médica gratuita durante tres semanas anteriores al inicio del programa, y el equipo de OM dio un entrenamiento avanzado de evangelismo a la iglesia local. Los especialistas que llegaron de los EE.UU. dieron atención gratuita, mientras que los pacientes recibían medicamentos y anteojos, también en forma gratuita. Los que estaban esperando para ser atendidos, escucharon programas evangelísticos y vieron la película Jesús. El seguimiento lo está haciendo la iglesia local. El equipo de OM espera que este programa médico genere la movilización de la iglesia en el sur del país. Por favor ora para que Dios utilice este programa para crear relaciones con las personas que reciban Su mensaje.

Iniciativas Pioneras

Malasia: “Este entrenamiento fue transformacional”, dijo uno de los 29 participantes del recientemente realizado Entrenamiento de Facilitadores de AIDSLink [Conexión SIDA]. Los participantes llegaron de 15 países para tener siete días de entrenamiento intensivo. AIDSLink International ya ha capacitado a más de 100 facilitadores. El Entrenamiento para Facilitadores llamado Canal de Esperanza, les permite a los participantes hacer una diferencia entregando talleres sobre VIH, también ellos pueden involucrarse más profundamente en ministerios de VIH y SIDA, e incluso iniciar nuevos ministerios ellos mismos. Un participante compartió que, “llegué a este entrenamiento con un gran sueño para el ministerio de VIH y SIDA, esto me ha ayudado a cristalizar mis pensamientos y buscar a Dios en una manera más amplia.” AIDSLink International espera realizar su primer Entrenamiento para Facilitadores en español este mismo año en El Salvador.

Sudáfrica: El ‘Desafío del Gol Supremo’ es un programa que se realizará durante la Copa Mundial del 7 de Junio al 12 de Julio, juntamente con el campamento TeenStreet. Ora para que estos programas atraigan a muchos al Reino de Dios. OM ofrecerá entrenamiento a iglesias y otras organizaciones para equiparlos en el ministerio durante la Copa Mundial. Pide a Dios que supla a los líderes y ora para que este entrenamiento resulte en una buena cosecha en Sudáfrica y en todo el Mundo.

Próxima Generación

Austalia (TeenStreet): “Dios habló a mi corazón todos los días. ¡Me encantó la adoración! Mi vida ha cambiado”, contó uno de los adolescentes luego del primer TeenStreet en Australia, llevado a cabo en Sidney durante la Pascua. Adolescentes y adultos fueron desafiados por Dan y Suzie Potter, Expertos Internacionales en Juventud, a caminar con “doble visión”: mirando a Dios y observando a otros. El tema “Mundo Salvaje” fue el trasfondo de una semana de discipulado que cambió la vida de todos los que vinieron. “Me hizo muy feliz ver a los niños crecer y cambiar día tras día…”, compartió un líder. Y agregó: “Me encantó todo en el campamento. He liderado en muchos campamentos y misiones en la playa, pero este ha sido el mejor.” Un segundo TeenStreet “Mundo Salvaje” se realizará en Queenland del 5 al 10 de Julio. Alaba a Dios por los adolescentes que asistieron al primer TeenStreet en Australia. Por favor ora por ellos que al regresar a sus hogares, inevitablemente, enfrentarán nuevos desafíos.
