Primary health care
Providing health care among the Tonga people in Zimbabwe is a major challenge for nurse Vicky Graham. Timothy, a 10-year-old boy, was brought to the clinic on a wheelbarrow - the Tonga ambulance. He had fallen while collecting fruit from the Tamarind tree. He had a stick in his mouth that penetrated down the side of his jaw bone right through the skin in two places below his chin. There was extensive damage. There is no emergency room in this rural area. Vicky laid him on the ground (her operating table). She managed to stitch up all the wounds - with a lot of prayer. Her biggest concern was infection and how the wounds would heal. She spent about an hour on her hands and knees fixing him up.
Praise the Lord! His face has healed wonderfully. His mother spoke out at one of the clinics to give God the glory for what He has done for her son.
