Freedom Climb Canada 2016
Freedom Climb - Fernie BC - August 6-12 2016
for the first time in Canada, the Freedom Climb will take a stand and speak out against modern day slavery, exploitation, oppression and trafficking by making the symbolic climb to freedom in Fernie, British Columbia. This 6 day climb will cover over 60 kms with one over-night camp on the mountain. There will be plenty of time for reflection and personal and group devotions and worship.
The issue of modern day slavery has become a well-known topic as awareness of the issue has grown. The Freedom Climb is an opportunity for women around the world to symbolically climb for women and children around the world; those who are oppressed, enslaved, exploited or trafficked. It allows women of all ages, places and walks of life to stand up and get involved in this battle against the degradation and dehumanization of women and children globally. Soccer moms, grand-moms, and students are all invited to join in a united voice to declare that these atrocities need to end.
Currently, we are funding over 60 projects that specifically focus on the needs of these women and children in their unique culture. The projects we fund are classified into three categories: Rescue and Rehabilitation, Development, and Prevention. We are excited to partner with The Joy Smith Foundation ( http://www.joysmithfoundation.com/) who will be establishing a safe-house in Manitoba helping to ensure that every Canadian woman and children are safe from manipulation, force, or abuse of power designed to lure and exploit them into the sex trade or forced labor.
