IT Systems Administrator, OM UK (United Kingdom)
OM UK's National Headquarters team, based in Shropshire, England, represents OM's worldwide (in over 100 countries) work to the UK church and helps to resource that work with finance and people. We serve about 400 OM UK workers serving in the UK and overseas.
The Systems Administrator’s role is to maintain and develop the IT facilities for the busy national office and those working in regional offices.
As soon as possible
1-2 years (full time)
There are about 100 users nationally that require IT support; the Systems Administrator role is vital for this team to be as effective as possible.
1. The following are essential requirements:
- at least some previous experience of Microsoft Windows setup and configuration in a networked environment
- a good working knowledge of English
- the ability to learn, and work within, OM's IT standards
2. The ideal person will have some or many of the following technical skills. Knowledge of all the following is not expected - technical IT staff are encouraged to work at improving their skills and the necessary skills can be acquired.
- good knowledge and experience of LAN administration and IP based networks
- in-depth Windows XP management and trouble-shooting
- Microsoft Office set-up, trouble-shooting and user support
- Linux or Unix systems (particularly Red Hat/Fedora/CentOS Linux)
- PC computer hardware maintenance and support
3. The following personal skills would also be helpful:
- good with people
- analytical
- self-motivated but also a team-player
- Flexible
4. Commitment: Minimum one year but preferably two years or more.
