When you hear the word ‘Siberia’ you might think of freezing winters, concentration camps and white bears! Why not come and see if it’s true? We challenge you to come for an adventure to Siberia and try out the hot summers and cooler winters for yourself. OM Russia is based in Novosibirsk, a city of nearly 2 million people, very few of which are Christians.
OM Russia has just built a new training centre in Novosibirsk, with accommodation for Global Action participants. This is an exciting new possibility to live alongside young Russian Christians who are also taking part in our Discipleship programme.
Training and opportunities for GA participants include:
excellent Russian tuition for both beginners and intermediate speakers in a local language school, plus the chance to practice the language on a day to day basis
monthly trips to villages and towns in the largely unreached Novosibirsk area, to encourage small churches or help plant new ones, plus a two week outreach in the spring
involvement in ministry in a local church, such as children’s ministry, teenage and youth work, sport clubs, English teaching, ministry to the deaf and dumb community etc.
if there are three or more participants, OM Russia can offer one or two mornings teaching/training a week on subjects such as ‘How to work with teenagers’, ‘Overview of the Bible’, ‘Personality and Spirituality’, ‘Apologetics’, ‘Discipleship’ and much more.
participation with Russian Discipleship Centre students in ministry projects such as organising and running a children’s holiday Bible club, a conference for teenagers and a missions conference.
regular involvement in, and a chance to lead, Bible studies and prayer meetings
a more experienced OM’er alongside to give advice or help when needed
a chance to relax and try out your Russian playing table-tennis, volleyball or cross country skiing with other students
Requirements:
You will need to:
speak English to a reasonable level
be willing to learn Russian
be accepted by your local OM Home Office
be able to raise financial support of $830 per month (plus flights and Go conference costs)
be willing to work in a conservative Russian Baptist context
There is also the possibility of staying on for an extra year or longer, but a second year will probably require more support to be raised.
All jobs/opportunities on this site are unsalaried. Most people joining OM have to raise financial support to cover their living expenses, usually through gifts from home churches and other supporters.
