Short-term Missions Trip

Summer Outreach in Germany - Light for Germany (Germany)

Bringing and being Good News to the city of Greifswald (northeast Germany)!
In Greifswald - once in the communist part of Germany - one can see plainly the fruits of communist indoctrination that went on for decades: “People here are so far away from God that they have forgotten to think about God, even on their deathbed”.
The purpose of this year’s “Light for Germany Outreach” is to work in partnership with two churches in Greifswald to touch a totally new generation, one which is sensitive again to spiritual matters, one which is willing to receive the Good News: the children!

You will be working with an international team but also together with a local church in running a holiday club. Our aim is that this outreach will give the ongoing ministry - in a socially needy district of Greifswald - a boost. We will run a one week programme with the kids - do various activities, games, sports and creative stuff. Besides giving also a spiritual input, we will also seek to establish relationships to the parents.
Our main goals are: Being a light in this neighbourhood, introducing Jesus to the kids and their parents, providing a fun time for kids who usually don’t have many highlights, raising the self esteem of the kids, supporting the kids to develop skills like concentration, coordination, etc.
Since the circus theme worked last year as an excellent tool to reach our goals we will continue to run a circus theme programme in 2012.
With us you can get involved in evangelism, kids ministry, prayer walking, social action, building friendships, etc.

The programme starts with an outreach orientation - a number of seminars and workshops. We will then develop the holiday club programme. We will see how everyone’s skills and gifts can fit or expand the pre-planned programme for the holiday club. There will be different ways to communicate the Gospel - doing kids ministry, music/ creative arts, community service, sports and many more. The team language will be bi-lingual in German and English.

Participants should be committed Christians who have a desire to share God's love! Since we will have an emphasis on kid ministry you should have a love for children, too. Previous evangelism experience is not required. Minimum age for individuals is 18 years. Participants must be able to speak conversational German or English.

Staying with host families or in church rooms.
