Short-term Missions Trip

##CANCELLED## Transform 2016 Europe - Transit Challenge Traveling Team (United Kingdom)

Transform (www.transform.om.org) is a unified effort around the Mediterranean to create momentum for the gospel by mobilising people and training them in telling their personal God story.
As you join Transit Challenge, you will assist OM teams across Europe in their mission of making Christ known. We hope that it will help to broaden your cultural perceptions, deepen your relationship with God and shape your character through an intense team-life situation.

For five months you will be a vital part of a small team whose united purpose is to serve and to make Christ known across Europe. Following from the central conference in Barcelona, you will travel to European nations in a Transit van. Be prepared for long journeys together in a Transit van which will become a valued member of your team…
In each country you will experience new cultures and form new relationships as you work alongside churches and OM teams. You will learn from and be challenged by this five month experience of team-life.

11th to 16th of July 2016 – central conference in Barcelona, Spain
16th July to 17th of December 2016 - The transit journey.
You will start in Barcelona with a week of worship, training and teaching together with hundreds of young people from many parts of the world. From there you will join a small team traveling around the European Mediterranean nations in a Transit van. In each country you will work within a schedule that the local OM team will have prepared for you. This schedule should reflect the local culture and the long-term vision of the OM team. You will participate in ongoing projects as well as taking part in special outreaches and activities. You may be asked to create and lead Children’s programmes, to talk with new people about your faith, to serve practically, to visit the elderly, to be involved in Sports programmes, and more; all with the aim of making Christ known.

Can you speak English? Are you flexible? Do you enjoy travelling, meeting people and experiencing new cultures? Do you enjoy living and working in a team? Are you passionate about Christ and sharing His love? If so, you could be part of the next Transit Challenge Team.

In each country accommodation will be arranged for you by the OM team. During your five months you may sleep in houses, on church floors, in tents and offices: be prepared to live out of your suitcase!

Food will be provided within the overall cost. The local OM team will provide for you in each country. In some places you will be cooked for, in others you will be given a food budget and will buy and cook for yourselves. Be adventurous and enjoy experiencing new tastes!

You need to book and pay for your own return travel to Barcelona, arriving on the 11th of July and leaving on the 17th of December. The conference will take place in the area of Barcelona. Detailed information about travel to the conference site will be given to you by your local OM office. All other travel in Europe will be organised through Transit and will mostly be in the Transit van.

You need to be in good health and be able to cope with different climates, diets and situations. You are responsible for obtaining appropriate emergency health and medical insurance.

Please check with your local OM office.

United Kingdom :: “I wasn’t satisfied with what I did in my job [before joining missions], and I wanted to make more out of my life—give this special time for God. I can’t imagine going back to ‘normal life,’ doing a ‘normal job.’” - Waldemar from Germany, OM Lifehope
United Kingdom :: “[In missions,] I have become more bold, and my faith in God is increased each day, because each and every day, I have to depend on God to supply my needs, and speaking to different people each day, I have to be bold and believe that God has touched them through His word.” - Roy from Zimbabwe, OM Lifehope
United Kingdom :: “I hope to help children who do not know Jesus yet realize that learning about God can be fun!” - Rachel from USA, with OM Lifehope
United Kingdom :: “I honestly didn’t decide to serve in the UK. I was called to serve and feed God’s people, and I went where I saw a need. I do feel like this is a good place and fit for me, but I wouldn’t want to put God in a box in saying this is the best or only place.” - Matt from USA
United Kingdom :: “I want children to get the best possible picture of God, who He is, and [know] that He loves them.” - Kees-Jan from the Netherlands
United Kingdom :: “For a long time, I thought that missions would fix me, you know? As if, somehow, me leaving home and starting full-time mission work would sort out my heart issues and I would finally be the obedient disciple I wanted to be. My biggest struggle has been relearning that the process of looking more and more like Jesus is one that requires a lot of trust and a lot of sacrifice.” - Joshua from USA
United Kingdom :: “I’m finishing my second year [with OM] now. I believe, and hopefully it’s true, that I’m closer to the person that God wants me to be. I guess that’s what has changed most [since I joined missions]: my interest in knowing who, what, and where God wants me to be.” - Jennifer from France, in the UK
United Kingdom :: “I came to Christ in 1999, and from that time on, I’ve always had the desire to serve God full-time. I had a passion to see people growing in their faith and to know the same God that I had found. The day that I discovered that it is God’s will for us to share our experience with others, I saw that as we share our faith, it is a way to express thankfulness for what He gave us.” - Givas from Brazil, Persian team leader in UK
United Kingdom :: “I hope God uses my time [in missions] for at least one person to be changed. That has been sort of my team’s prayer these last four months—that one kid comes closer to God, and we get to see it and experience it. I just want to go through my life knowing that happened. (And if more get changed, though, I’m not complaining.)” - Blake from USA, formerly with Lifehope
United Kingdom :: At Christian events in the UK, OM is encouraging Brits to join a Short-Term Mission this summer.
United Kingdom :: Two men participate in an interactive exhibition at Christian conference, Word Alive. The installation helps the UK Church understand how to partner with OMs refugee ministries across Europe and Middle East.
United Kingdom :: UK TeenStreet Co-ordinator, Deejay, encourages British church-goers to partner with OMs refugee ministries across Europe and Middle East at UK music festival, Big Church Day Out.
