Short-term Missions Trip
A Heart for France: Châteaudun ##FULL## - Reaching the community (France)
The purpose of this outreach is to touch the town of Châteaudun with the gospel and to encourage the local church in their community evangelism efforts.
The church of Châteaudun(south-west of Paris) is mobilising for a week of evangelism in its community. They would love to have your help! Come and work side by side with French believers, taking the gospel out into the streets, where there is a large Turkish poulation.
The outreach will begin with workshops to train you in the methods to be used during the week. There will also be teaching on French spiritual issues and the local spiritual climate. We will meet for daily prayer, worship, and devotional times. Ministry activities with church members will run from Monday to Saturday.
We may use several open-air methods: sketchboard, music, mime, surveys, etc., and these activities will be linked with literature distribution. An International Evening (variety show/Gospel presentation) and children's clubs with puppets as well as other church events may also be planned. Further details will be available nearer the time.
We are looking for participants ready to be taught by and used of God during this outreach. English and French will be the team languages — participants should have conversation skills in at least one of the two, and it would be helpful to learn some basic phrases in the other. A knowledge of Turkish would be a real advantage!
Participants will sleep in church members' homes or in the church. You may need to bring a camping matress and pillow, further information will be sent nearer the time.
We are hoping to be able to accomodate families depending on age and expectations. Please contact us for more information.
Meals will be in hosts' homes and/or the church. You will help with meal preparation and clean-up.
Participants will need to arrange their own travel to and from the outreach. Travel to Châteaudun by car, OR from Paris to Chartres on the train, where you can get a coach/bus to Châteaudun. Plan to arrive between 12 and 5pm on Saturday, 7 July. Participants should plan their departure for after 12pm on Sunday, 15 July. **see General Notes for more information
Participants should be in reasonably good health, ready for an intense week of evangelism. Any special needs (food allergies, special diet, a good bed due to back problems, etc) must be communicated as early as possible so that organisers can prepare to receive that person! Each participant should arrange personal medical insurance to cover the period of the outreach.
Some participants may require a visa. Those participants will need to begin their application process with the OM office in their country at least one month in advance of the application deadline given here. Please contact the OM office in your country for more information.
(If participants need to leave on Saturday, 14 July, to prepare for work/school on Monday, that is possible, though you will probably miss a key evangelism event.)
