Short-term Missions Trip

A Heart for France: Clermont Ferrand - Bringing hope to the community ##FULL## (France)

The purpose of this outreach is to touch the town of Clermont-Ferrand with the gospel and to encourage the local churches in their community efforts.

The church of Clermont-Ferrand(central-south France) is mobilising for a week of outreach in its community, hopefully with other churches in the area too! They would love to have your help! Come and work side by side with French believers, taking the gospel out into the streets.

The outreach will begin with workshops to equip you with the skills to be used during the week. There will also be teaching on French spiritual issues. We will meet for daily prayer, worship, and devotional times. Ministry activities with church members will run from Monday to Saturday.

We plan on using several open-air methods, to try to create a carnival atmosphere: sketchboard, music, mime, surveys, juggling if available... Open-air activities will be linked with literature distribution. An International Evening (variety show/Gospel presentation) and children's clubs with puppets as well as other church events may also be planned. Further details will be available nearer the time.

If one word could describe your profile, it would be HUMBLE, see participants profile Philippians 2:5-8. Are ready to serve your Maker in whatever way He requires of you? We are looking for participants with a servant-heart, ready to be taught by and used by God during this project. You need to be prepared to work as a part of a team, which will likely be multi-cultural, so you should be ready to adapt, and accept differences in others. English and French will be the team languages — participants should have conversation skills in at least one of the two.

We will sleep either in a partner-church or in church members’ homes. There will be bathrooms/shower facilities.

Breakfast will be provided at the accommodation. Lunch and dinner will be provided. Depending on final arrangements, you will probably be required to assist in meal prep and clear-up.

Participants will need to arrange their own travel to and from the outreach. Travel to Clermont-Ferrand by car, OR by train to the station in the centre of town. Clermont-Ferrand is accessible from Paris in about 3.5 hours by train. Plan to arrive between 12 and 5pm on Saturday, 21 July. Participants should plan their departure for after 12pm on Sunday, 29 July. ** see General Notes for more information

Participants should be in reasonably good health, ready for an intense week of evangelism. Any special needs (food allergies, special diet, a good bed due to back problems, etc) must be communicated as early as possible so that organisers can prepare to receive that person! Each participant should arrange personal medical insurance to cover the period of the outreach.

Some participants may require a visa. Those participants will need to begin their application process with the OM office in their country at least one month in advance of the application deadline given here. Please contact the OM office in your country for more information.

  • (If participants need to leave on Saturday, 28 July, to prepare for work/school on Monday, that is possible.)

How to find us: The address of the church is:
Eglise évangélique Les Eaux Vives
35 rue de la Pradelle
63000 Clermont-Ferrand
We can arrange collection from the train station, but you will need to send your arrival time in advance, or call using your mobile if you wish to be collected.
