Short-term Missions Trip
Lifehope Olympics - Final More than Gold (United Kingdom)
With the Olympics coming to the UK this summer we have a great opportunity to reach people coming from so many nations across the world. The Olympics also provides opportunities to relate to people who already live in our communities. Through More than Gold, we want to equip, train and challenge you to reflect Jesus Christ and to use your God given gifts to bring Hope. As a result, we want to see the community impacted. We also hope that you will go away strengthened in your faith and with a deeper desire to share your faith back at home.
As part of our Olympics focus this summer you will be working with an international team alongside a church using the Olympic theme as a springboard to get into contact with people in the local area. We will give you orientation and training to help you share your faith.
The programme will be varied. You will be reaching out to people of all backgrounds and ages. Most of them will be interested in a programme related to sports and the Olympics. This is a great opportunity during this time of festive sports. In addition to activities planned at the church, there might be some time to visit people door to door, do street or park ministry and other things that could help you to engage with people. You will have the opportunity to share your testimony, be involved in the dramas, singing and crafts.
You need to speak some English. No previous evangelism experience is required, as training will be given.
Either in church homes or at the church. You should come prepared to sleep on the floor. Bring your own sleeping bag and mat.
Food will be provided at the church. We need to know in advance of any special dietary needs (vegetarian, food allergies, and so on)
Arrival airport and meeting point will be confirmed nearer the time. You can already check travel information to Birmingham (BHX) airport in the UK but please only book flights once the arrival airport and meeting point is confirmed for sure. How to find us: Look out for the OM Lifehope sign at the meeting point.
You should be in average good health and able to walk a reasonable distance without difficulty. You are responsible to obtain appropriate emergency health and medical insurance.
Nationals from the EU and EEA do not require a visa for the UK. For all other nationalities you will either require an invitation letter in order to apply for a visa before leaving your country or just an invitation letter to present at the airport on arrival in the UK. In both cases you will enter the UK as a Visitor.
