Short-term Missions Trip

Transforming Gypsy Communities - Gypsy Outreach (Romania)

Let's demonstrate the transforming love of God to the Roma people of Romania through practical service working alongside the local church to build relationships with those in need and to share the Gospel.

We will stay two weeks in the heart of a Roma/Gypsy community taking part in projects, using our practical skills to bless the community and to be a light in a dark and needy place.

Each day, in small groups, we will take part in practical projects (house hold repairs, small construction projects) throughout the village. Over the two weeks we will have opportunities to assist the local church with adult and kids evangelism, home visits, relationship building, and more all centred around the service projects we will be doing.

We are looking primarily for flexible people with professional/non-professional skills in home repair, electrical, carpentry, etc. We are open for all with a heart to serve. People in good health, who can handle the heat of summer without air conditioning and are willing to spend two weeks living as the Roma do.

We will stay in a Roma village, either in tents or with Roma families. Toilet facilities may be primitive and shower facilities may be primitive and/or limited. There may not be laundry facilities.

We will provide all meals in partnership with the local church and may have a rotating "kitchen help" schedule for you to be involved in.

You will arrange your travel to and from Romania. We will arrange travel to/from the airport and within the country.

We will be doing physical work in the heat of the summer and the dust of the village, possibly sleeping in tents, eating as a group, and ask that you be in good health, able to participate with us. (please let us know of any allergies/conditions during your application process)

Those from countries within the EU will not need a visa, others will need to check with their embassies for details.
