Short-term Missions Trip
Northern Bridge Outreach 2011 ##FULL## (France)
The purpose of this outreach is to touch the neighbouring towns of Bruay-la-Buissière and Auchel with the gospel and to encourage the local church in their community evangelism efforts.
The churches of Bruay-la-Buissière and Auchel (northern France) are mobilising for a week of evangelism in their community. They would love to have your help! Come and work side by side with French believers, taking the gospel out into the streets.
The outreach will begin with workshops to train the participant in the evangelism methods to be used during the week. There will also be teaching on French spiritual issues. We will meet for daily prayer, worship, and devotional times. Evangelism activities with church members will run from Monday to Saturday.
We plan on using several open-air evangelism methods: sketchboard, music, mime, surveys, etc. Open-air activities will be linked with literature distribution. An Interational Evening (variety show/Gospel presentation) and children's clubs as well as other church events are also being planned.
We are looking for participants ready to be taught by and used of God during this campaign. English and French will be the team languages — participants should have conversation skills in at least one of the two, though the church would prefer that those involved in the children's work have at least some basic conversational French.
Participants will sleep in church members' homes.
Meals will be in church members' homes and at the church.
Participants will need to arrange their own travel to and from the outreach. Travel to Bruay-la-Buissière by car OR to Béthune or Lille by train. Paris to Béthune is a 1 hour 30 minute trip by TGV. Participants should plan to arrive between 12 and 5pm on Saturday, 16 July. Participants should plan their departure for after 12pm on Sunday, 24 July. (If participants need to leave on Saturday, 23 July, to prepare for work/school on Monday, that is fine.) How to find us: Participants should make their own way to either Bruay-la-Buissière (by car) or to Béthune or Lille (by train). Participants arriving by car will be given directions to the outreach site. Participants arriving by train will be picked up at the Béthune or Lille train stations.
Participants should be in reasonably good health, ready for an intense week of evangelism. Any special needs (food allergies, special diet, a good bed due to back problems, etc) must be communicated as early as possible so that organisers can prepare to receive that person! Each participant should arrange personal medical insurance to cover the period of the outreach.
Some participants from non-European countries may require a visa. Those participants will need to begin their application process with the OM office in their country at least 1 month in advance of the application deadline given here. Please contact the OM office in your country for more information.
