transforming lives and communities

Next Generation

We want the next generation to experience God’s transforming power in and through their lives. One generation of young people had the passion and vision to start OM. Young people have the 'right now' energy to transform lives and communities.

OM is committed to helping, supporting and releasing young people to experience life as God intended and to fulfil their calling.

TeenStreet

Dynamic, interactive and creative, OM’s TeenStreet programmes have challenged and inspired thousands of young Christians to have a real friendship with Jesus and reflect Him in their world. Since its small beginnings in 1992, TeenStreet continues to grow rapidly, ministering to teenagers across Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Teens in Mission

TeenStreet gave birth to Teens in Mission (TiM) enabling teens to reach teens with the Gospel. TiM experiences teach young people how to reflect Jesus by serving and supporting others and by sharing their story.

Reaching the Next Generation

Children and young people face immense pressures, troubles and challenges. Across the world, OM workers love and care for neglected children and teenagers. Orphanages, homes for street kids and schools provide genuine hope for a different future. Children’s clubs, sports events and special programmes enable youngsters to find joy in difficult situations.

All over the world, in schools and slums, on street corners and in churches, we are introducing young people to Jesus—the One who can change their world.

Stories

God put it on our hearts to run TeenStreet for tribal teens in Borneo, where poverty and lack of basic facilities, coupled with Islamisation efforts make life for teens difficult. TeenStreet has run two events in Sabah and Sarawak in Bahasa Malaysia, the national language.

One boy hails from a community of illegal loggers and feared this might be his only option. Encouraged that with God in his life he could do more than he could himself, his face shone. Another 16-year-old boy came from a village isolated by a 1½ hr boat ride along a crocodile-infested river. He shared that the message of the day—to identify idols in our lives and destroy them—had convicted him to deal with his alcoholism.

The external influences faced by teens from the interior are tremendous. Churches feel ill-equipped to disciple them and often they are left feeling forgotten. In the heart of Borneo lies much potential for a generation to rise up for God and impact their nation.

Eighteen youth joined our one-year discipleship/leadership training and went on to be team leaders for our three-month training involving 88 participants. Most participants have probably never ventured beyond their own villages. It is awesome to see their lives transformed, not just by in-class teaching, but during outreaches that last from two weeks to a month where they lead people to faith in Jesus, see people healed from sickness and freed from demonic possession. Experiencing shortages in food, lack of transportation and hard steep trails between villages, these youth return amazed at what God has taught them and how God used them to build His Kingdom.

OM held a teen camp in Cebu in May with 100 teens from ten areas. One leader shared her experience: “God moved in the hearts of the teens during our camp. Many started to open up about their lives; tough teens began to smile in an environment so different from the streets.” During one praise evening, as a leader prayed, one teen after another knelt in tears; many experienced the peace that comes from Jesus.
