Resourcing – Mobilising for World Missions

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

OM EAST distributes books As the early Church was formed, Christ’s commission to “Go and make disciples of all nations…” was resonating in the hearts of believers. This call is still clear and the task equally great for the Church today.

Partnership

In OM we see the church as God’s chosen instrument here on earth, designed and commissioned to bring transformation to a fallen and hurting creation. Around the world, OM seeks to encourage God’s people to fulfill this commission by sharing what He is doing and inviting them to get involved.

Our desire is to work in partnership with the church, equipping and empowering believers to live out Christ’s calling in their own community and nation, and to the ends of the earth. Working together we will have a greater impact.

Prayer Points

Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan: Pray for the ability to impart a mission vision in the churches and for key workers in OM home offices.
As the national work continues to grow and extend in Nepal, facilities are needed to provide a new training and ministry centre. Pray for the additional finances needed to cover this exciting new development. Pray also for those national leaders who carry the burden and joy of its establishment.
Pray for OM in Sri Lanka as it gives expertise into the establishing of a new national mission that has already sent workers to Bangladesh and Bihar in North India.

USA

Fascinated by missions, but an accountant well-along in years, Jackie never thought missions was for her. She took the Perspectives missions course at her church and learned that her gifts in accounting could be used in missions. “I never thought I would be in my 60s, quitting my job, selling my house and becoming a missionary,” Jackie recalls. OM Costa Rica needed Jackie’s expertise, and were blessed by her heart to serve. Jackie is now the Finance Director for five countries. Her encouragement to others her age is simple: “If you give the Lord control of your life, what He does with it will absolutely amaze you!”

The difficult global economic situation during 2009 negatively affected OM USA’s financial situation. We decided to stop everything and seek the Lord for wisdom, direction, and provision. After that decision, a foundation offered to match funds that would come in the next sixty days. After three days of prayer and fasting as a team, the Lord answered. Through an event at a local church which had heard of our need, God completely met the matching gift offer in one evening! The foundation was so encouraged that they became further involved; by the time we received all gifts from various donors, including our regular supporters, God provided twice the amount of our original need.

Mexico

During short-term summer outreaches, church groups from abroad work alongside local fellowships to reach their communities. One church in Mexico City received such a group to minister in one of the poorest areas. One woman listened to the Gospel with tears of gratitude and asked why the group had left their comforts to come to her community and share the Gospel. She was touched because they came and walked in the dirt. Her whole family of twelve gave their lives to the Lord.
