Church Planter - Santay Island: Ecuador

Santay Island is situated in the river which forms the eastern border of the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. It is home to about 200 people, abandoned by the world for 50 years, and currently without an established church . For the last few years OM has been ministering part time here in partnership with a local church in the city, and a good relationship has been established with the people. The time is ripe to really press on towards an established church, but no one has been found to take on the challenge.

2. Building relationships with the people.
3. Laying Biblical foundations with the adults.
4. Discipling the youth.
5. Identifying and developing leaders.
6. We also believe a literacy program with the adults would be beneficial.

  • Commitment Length: 2-3 years (full time)
1. A willingness to learn Spanish well. We will provide formal classes.
2. A willingness to "rough it" (mosquitos, waterlogged ground)
3. Bible teaching ability.
4. Discipling ability.
5. Can relate to youth.
6. Some church planting experience preferable, though not essential.

Please note: all jobs/opportunities on this site are unsalaried. Most people joining OM have to raise financial support to cover their living expenses, usually through gifts from home churches and other supporters.

    Do you have a passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to share the message of the cross with those who have never heard? DO you want to help others to begin experiencing the joy of leading people to Christ? Then we are looking for you! Come help us reach the lost in Ecuador, and come help us mobilize and train Ecuadorian believers to do the same!
