New Missions Resource for Kids

World Champions booklets now available to downloadMissions is not just for grown-ups!

For a number of years, the team at OM New Zealand have focussed on mobilising children for missions as well, taking an interactive presentation to children's groups around the country, publishing monthly newsletters for kids and hosting a children's missions website called 'World Champions'.

Due to other commitments and staff availability, much of this work was put on hold in late 2006, but the desire was always there to encourage and challenge children to look beyond New Zealand's shores and their age, and get excited about ways they too can be a part of the Great Commission around the world.

With this goal in mind, the World Champions website was transformed and relaunched this March. The site now offers over 30 downloadable booklets that parents and teachers can print out and give to their children aged 5-12.

Along with information on one country, each activity booklet also explores a Christian theme, complete with memory verse and ideas for practical application. Covering countries as diverse as Mexico and Mongolia, these booklets are updated versions of the World Champions newsletters that were sent to children around New Zealand each month.

World Champions creator, Shirley Booth, says, "People would contact us for a previous newsletter or one specific to a country they were studying, and there was nowhere the public could access them unless they had kept copies we'd posted out in past years. Now children's workers can look at what we offer and can pass appropriate resources on to their children. Our hope and prayer is that as well as educating and entertaining children, these booklets will draw them closer to God and give them more of a passion to see Him glorified in all nations."
