Adventure in Chile!

An adrenaline-pumping 3 weeks guaranteed to increase your faith!

20-year-old Sandy So of Australia was surfing mini-mission opportunities on the net when she came across OM Chile’s Adventure Team. It caught her eye.

“I love travelling, the timing was good, and financially it all fit together,” said Sandy, who had just finished her Interior Design studies. She was ready for a complete change of pace--something that would challenge her both physically and spiritually. “But I was a bit anxious,” she added truthfully. “I don’t speak any Spanish, and my whole perception of Chile was very different from what it actually is!”

This March, as her adventure neared its end in Santiago, she was able to laugh at her worries. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every aspect!--The balance of having fun—doing missions—the Life Direction Seminar. Before I left I was looking forward to my situation changing. I didn’t think I would change myself—even after only the first week!”

OM Chile’s Adventure Team packs three months’ worth of experience into an intensive three weeks. Not only does it include extreme sports like body-boarding, rafting, mountain-biking, and volcano-climbing, but sightseeing in one of the most stunning areas of the world. Then there is the awesome experience of sharing Jesus with Mapuche Indians. Reaching out to the city’s homeless and abused children. Making  new discoveries about yourself—and your Creator.

“My expectations were exceeded on a daily basis, even an hourly basis,” Sandy reported with wonder. “I’ve never done a mission before. Growing up, I thought missions was only for hardcore Christians or the elderly.--A very unattractive thing. But missions is definitely not what I expected it to be! Now, actually meeting the people here, I feel so much excitement and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to share it when I get home!”

Fellow team member Philippe Denzler, a 25-year-old police officer in France, agreed. “Every day was a new experience of the love of God. I’d never been to South America, never talked to people about Jesus. Now I feel God wants me to be an evangelist!”

“I wouldn’t have wanted our group to be any other way,” added Sandy. “There were seven of us from France, England, Switzerland, Austria and Australia. I feel like I’ve known them my whole life! God orchestrated it perfectly.”

Maybe what George Carlin said is true: “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” If so, why not consider a breathtaking adventure in Chile this year? Apply early for the next team in October 2008. For more details see http://www.om.org/short-term-opportunities/#Chile
