OM Zimbabwe stopped from providing aid to needy

OM International

English/Espanol

All NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) in Zimbabwe have been ordered to cease operations. OM Zimbabwe has had to close the day-care centre in Banket as well as the mobile clinic in Siabuwa.

Those who were distributing food aid are no longer permitted to continue. Millions of people in rural areas are dependent on food aid after the harvest failed, despite the excellent rainfall. OM has not been forbidden to preach the Gospel or pray, but may not help any needy person or meet in groups larger than fifteen.

The OM team has started a 21-day Daniel fast to worship and praise God daily in readings and worship, to repent of our own sin, the sin of the church in Zimbabwe and the sin of the nation.

OM Zimbabwe says, “We are turning to God, so he will turn to us. It is He who will judge and heal our land, not we ourselves by our own efforts.”

Please pray for:
•      the presidential election rerun on 27 June.
•      the forces of darkness trying to destroy this nation to be exposed and restrained.
•      violence to cease.
•      a restoration of the economy.
•      safety and the supply of provisions for the team.
•      creative ways to return to ministry.

* Por el gobierno.
* Para que las fuerzas de oscuridad que tratan de destruir esta nación sean expuestas y reprimidas.
* Por el cese de la violencia.
* Por la restauración económica.
* Por seguridad y provisiones para el equipo.
* Por formas creativas de hacer el ministerio.

Inflation in Zimbabwe
7 Jun, 2006
For OM workers living in Zimbabwe, the reality of massive inflation is a daily challenge. They write, "The country continues for a head on collision with disaster. For a long time we have been saying it can't go on - but it has. Bread now costs three times the largest denomination of paper money that we have. Inflation has raced past 1000% and is still accelerating."
