Stories from the Cyclone Zone: God Cares for the Poor

OM International

“When the Cyclone Nargis came, we could see it passing from our window: our roofs were blown off. We were very afraid. When the rain came afterwards we were frightened, but the next morning the children had lots of fun playing with the water. In their young age they didn’t know what had happened.”

“Now whenever we hear a strong wind, we become frightened, as we don’t know what will happen next. Our government told us that nothing serious had happened, but those of us who have radio heard that something really bad had happened to our country. We didn’t know how serious it was until we went to the Delta ourselves and saw. Although we are poor, whatever little rice we had, we gave to the people who had survived,” says Mary.
