God speaks Turkish

OM International

The 12-year-old daughter of Anna’s neighbour wasn’t looking forward to her two-week holiday from school – she had to attend mosque every day for Koran class. ‘Can I come with you one day, just to see what it’s like?’ asked Anna. Her young friend was happy to bring Anna, but said she should bring her Bible because it is full of such great stories.

The teacher was initially delighted with Anna’s attendance as she thought this foreigner had become a Muslim. However, she was soon disappointed when Anna failed to be impressed with the day’s Arabic reading from the Koran. She handed the Turkish language Bible to the teacher, open to John 3:16. The teacher began to read and read and read. The girls were amazed and squealed, ‘God speaks Turkish!’ While Anna was given a tour of the mosque by the teacher, the Koran class of 20 girls crowded around the Bible to read more of its great stories!

Praise God for this opportunity to share Good News. Pray for wisdom for Anna as she develops friendships with her neighbours and the local mosque. Pray for the young girls and teacher who heard – in their native Turkish language – about God’s love for them.
