Not Blood but Grape Juice

OM International

Karen* lives with her husband and son in a conservative Turkish town. For some time she wondered why her neighbours were slow to visit her home. Then she heard the rumour that had spread through the neighbourhood. ‘Karen drinks blood!’ Over the centuries this has been a common complaint against Christians, coming from a misunderstanding of The Lord’s Supper. Fortunately, the owner of the corner shop came to the rescue. He announced to his customers, ‘Karen doesn’t drink blood, she drinks grape juice and she buys it from me!’

Pray for genuine friendships to develop between Karen and her family and their neighbours. Pray for opportunities to replace lies and misunderstandings with God’s truth.
