God Had Given Us A Great Day

OM International

Sometimes there are special moments when the Gospel is explained to someone and it finally makes sense to them. Kathryn, a participant with the OM Turning Point Royal Mission Outreach, shared that these are times when we have tears of joy and thankfulness.

God had given the participants a perfect day; not too hot, but not too cold - perfect for a day on the streets and in a local park. Kathryn and her partner set off, portions of Gospel literature in hand and a lot more in their bags. She looked at her watch: 3:30 p.m. Feeling exhausted after 3 weeks of evangelism, Kathryn shared, “I prayed that God would give me His energy to “. . . walk and not faint” with His love and enthusiasm for the people on this street.”

After handing out Gospel literature for 10 minutes, God supplied her with strength and enjoyment of what she was doing. Kathryn shared, “It became a joy for me to share the most precious message in the world with these people, many of whom were from North Africa and the Middle East.” Just then, a lady with her head covered, walked past Kathryn and stopped.  “What’s this you are giving out?” she asked her. This question allowed Kathryn to explain what she believes about Jesus. Wafa seemed happy to talk and interested in what was being said.

Kathryn asked, “Do you know the story of Abraham?” Wafa responded that she did, so Kathryn continued to explain how Abraham built an altar and was going to offer his son as the sacrifice to God, but at the last moment, God provided a ram in the bush as a substitute for Abraham’s son having to be the sacrifice. Kathryn continued to share about sacrifice all throughout the Old Testament and how God provided His Son as the perfect sacrifice in our place. “We just have to look to Him, Jesus, the Lamb of God, and accept what He has done for us,” Kathryn told Wafa.

“As I said this, I knew that it He was guiding me in my words,” Kathryn said. This lady’s eyes opened and she said, “You know I have been visited twice by Christians and they told me about Jesus, but this is the first time that this has been explained to me and it makes sense to me. I understand that God did this.”

Kathryn said that they both looked at each other, and had tears in their eyes. “Can I pray for you?” Kathryn asked. “Yes.” So in the middle of the street Kathryn prayed with her eyes open in Jesus’ name for Wafa. As their conversation came to a close, Kathryn had the opportunity to give Wafa a New Testament and a mutual hug.

Kathryn said, “I felt such joy in my heart and knew that Wafa was so close to trusting in Jesus as her Saviour and joining the Kingdom of Heaven. . . I pray that by now she already has.”
