World Cup Outreach

OM International

All eyes are on Germany as the World Cup tournament continues and the field of competitors narrows in anticipation of the final in July.  OM Germany's outreach teams are equally busy in Gelsenkirchen and Hamburg, where international participants are working with German churches, leading children's programs and inviting people to watch the matches at local churches.

Onan, from the Congo, is the leader of the Hamburg team, and recently met two teenage boys, Lucas and Johannes, at an open air event. The teens asked Onan about his faith in the Lord. "As I was talking to them, they made a clear statement that they do not believe in Christianity, as the Christians are the ones who sent people to Iraq to kill other people. So, I told them that the Lord whom we are serving - He does not send people to kill each other, but to love each other and to even love your enemies." Onan also explained the Gospel to these guys, who were very impressed because they had a wrong conception of Christianity before. They told Onan that they would like to hear more about God. A few days later, one of them returned with a friend, who also wants to know more about God!  Please pray that these teenagers - and many others - will continue to seek the knowledge of God, that the Lord may touch their hearts, and that they will understand that God offers eternal life.

Please pray for also for unity in the Gelsenkirchen and Hamburg teams; for good contacts in the local neighbourhoods, with teens, children and parents; and for the German churches to gain a heart for the people living in their neighbourhood even after the World Cup finishes.
