Arts Festival '07 Report- Albania
OM International

After many years of hosting short term outreach teams, OM Albania decided to branch out and try something a little different this year. Artists from many different countries were invited to come and use their talents to celebrate God’s gifts and tell other’s about His love. It was overwhelming how the program came together, how God used each individual and how He brought together what ended up being an amazing team. Both Artslink and Dancelink aided in recruiting participants and the result was a true blessing to all involved.
The outreach began with a two day conference exploring the way in which God calls each person to use his/her talents to bring honor and glory to Him. The team then went out and did just that. The dancers danced; the singers sang; the painters painted; and people heard God’s loved proclaimed.
The first week’s focus was working within the town of Lushnje . A mural was painted in the children’s ward of the hospital. Kid’s meetings were put on daily in the park. Workshops on photography, dance, music and painting were held for the community in the evenings. Then on the fifth day a concert was put on combining the different arts to share about God and to celebrate the gifts He’s given to all.
Week two the group then began working in a nearby village called Gorre hosting children’s meetings, making house visits, and putting on three different conferences. The dancers, painters, actors, and musicians again used their talents to connect with the local people and to develop relationships with individuals.
Prayer saturated each activity and doors were opened in the Lushnje and Gorre for sharing the Gospel. People expressed struggles and doubts with one another and questions were asked that are often ignored in the Albanian culture. It was a time of change, not just for the community, but also for the participants themselves.
