Making Moldovans their businessOM InternationalPrompted by unemployment rates of around 80%, OM Moldova started a Relief and Development Department two years ago. Eight team members are now involved in this work, which assists women's groups, day centres, feeding-the-elderly projects, building playgrounds, providing business courses and helping participants start their own small businesses.Current income-generating projects fund the growth of walnut trees, pig and cow farming, automobile/tractor parts, a sewing studio, sunflower seed oil production, electrical installation for houses, a bakery, beekeeping, working with marble, basket-making and woodworking! Four business courses over the years have offered practical instruction in agriculture and manufacturing. OM Moldova's goal is to help approximately 25 families start a small business each year.
