Advent is a time when many people are willing to help others worse off than themselves.  In the Hollabrun area of Austria (40km north of Vienna) OM Austria team member Nel has been working with schools, Kindergartens, shops and individuals to prepare "Christmas presents" for children in Poland.  "It is so encouraging to see how the children themselves have taken so much initiative with the preparation and with local shops sponsoring the transport we now have over 850 packets to send to children in orphanages in Poland," Nel shared.

Throughout the year, Nel leads various children's and women's Bible study groups in Hollabrunn.  These groups are celebrating Christmas together.  “Although the children have worked hard on preparing a Christmas story we have planned the programme in such a way that the whole family will feel welcome, and this is a wonderful way to get in contact with other family members and share the good news about Jesus with them, as very few know Him personally,” Nel said.

Through this regular children’s work, a few older children are now reading their Bibles regularly and show a real desire to live for Jesus.

  • Childrens Ministry (Mission Awareness) - AU
    You are part of a new GA team which is based in the city of Traun (next to Linz). The team is working alongside a local church which has chosen to reach out mainly to immigrant children and their families. Our day-center "i-point" is our ministry base and from there many other vital activities are carried out.

    As personnel manager "Short-term Mission", you manage and administrate all enquiries of interested participants and supervise processes and advise people before, during and after their mission experience.
    Other tasks could be: Working in international panels; doing the administration for our short-term mission experiences in Austria; helping to set up training conferences; recruiting people; speaking in churches and youth groups.
