Relief and Development – Mercy in Action
Across the world, people are battling the effects of poverty and disease.
Entire communities are left bereaved and desperate following natural disasters. War and social ills create a climate of fear and despair. Living faith inspires action, bringing hope and change to this world of poverty, pain and injustice.
We believe God’s love transforms the whole of life – spiritual, emotional, physical and social. Our relief and development workers demonstrate this love by addressing people’s immediate needs, building for a better future and offering eternal hope in Jesus.

Immediate Response
Faced with emergencies such as earthquakes in Asia or the AIDS crisis in Southern Africa, our response is to bring relief to those who are suffering. This means feeding the hungry and providing medical care for the sick and injured, building shelters for the homeless and comforting those who are bereaved.
Lasting Change
Development workers bring about long-term transformation in lives and communities by eliminating the causes of poverty, disease and injustice through education, micro-enterprise and employment projects. Educating street children in Sudan, teaching about the prevention of AIDS in Southern Africa and establishing small businesses in Tajikistan are among hundreds of development projects across the world.

Prayer Points
-
Myanmar people are getting increasingly desperate. They are broken, crying out for their nation and their people. We join
them, praying for justice, peace and righteousness.
Those helping with the aid relief are becoming increasingly tired and emotionally worn out by the overwhelming need. Pray
for strength and God's compassion.
The devastation brought by Cyclone Nargis will take years to rectify, particularly in the Delta region. People's lives have
been shattered; some sit lining the streets, with no family, no homes, no livelihood: no hope of a future to bring them
comfort or inspire them to pick up their lives again. Pray for their futures.
Aid is trickling through; but so slowly! The storehouses need to be opened wide and access given freely to those who need it
most.
