Despite its religious history, the Czech Republic is a very secular country - about 70% of the people don't believe that God exists. Since the 'Velvet Revolution' of 1989, the country has been greatly influenced by foreign business and many kinds of religious and philosophical sects and cults. OM Czech strives to glorify God in partnership with the Czech churches in order to motivate, develop and equip people for world evangelisation.
Through our various ministries – including evangelism, church-planting, English clubs, coffee club and special focus on youth ministry – we want to see many Czech people come to faith in Christ and be discipled. Our church plant teams have been instrumental in establishing and supporting churches in several Czech towns, as well as providing youth and children’s ministries.
To address the Czech people’s growing interest in learning English, we started English classes in Spring 2003, and the response has been overwhelming! Our coffee club provides opportunities to develop friendships with Czech youth, which are leading to evangelistic discussions. In Summer 2005, the team hosted the first-ever Central Europe Teen Street in the Czech Republic; the first TeenStreet to be held in a former Soviet Union country.
