OM has ministered in Hungary since the early 1970s, at that time through smuggling and distributing literature in the country. After the fall of Communism in 1989, the OM Hungary ministry began with evangelism teams, developing relationships with churches and giving missions vision to churches. These ministries continue today as OM Hungary seeks to further the mission’s vision of the Hungarian church and to motivate and equip people for world evangelization.
One way we are doing this is through training programs annually and conducting missions presentations in churches. Throughout the years, several Hungarians have served within and outside Hungary. We are also partnering with a local Baptist Church in Erd to provide a community center in Ofalu, which has a large Roma population. At the Center, we offer computer classes, Bible studies, and children's ministries.
Our newest endeavor, which began in Spring 2004, is a village mobilization ministry to reach the unevangelized people in rural villages and small towns. Bus4Life is a multifunctional bus that travels around the countryside to help village churches share the Gospel by equipping them with useful resources. This vehicle serves many different purposes: it has a bookshop of Christian books, as well as a neutral meeting place for the local pastors from different denominations. The Bus4Life team is also involved in English camps, sports ministry, and evangelism.
