Operation Mobilisation Panama (English)

The vision for OM Panama was born in 1992. Its representative and leader was Fernando Brown who had formerly been on the ship Doulos and also the pastor of a local church in Panama City. However it wasn't until 2000 that OM International, after much evangelism and recruiting through campaigns during the week of Easter recognized Central America as a Ministry Field with the following four countries: El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Panama.

In 2001 Roger Branda with his wife Elisabetta became the representatives of Operation Mobilization in Panama and have been so until today. Since then a ministry office and training center has been started in the city of Volcán, in the province of Chiriquí.

The purpose of OM Panama is to mobilize the national Christians and involve them in trans-cultural world missions and provide quality training for the Christian church. Our programs are focused mostly in the difficult areas to reach and four of the main Indian people groups, which are: Gnobe Bugle, Kuna, Embera, and Teribes.

Panama has been called a rainbow of races, and the Christian church calls it the 10/40 Window of America. That being because within Panama can be found five of the largest religions in the world with their respective temples and colonies. These people groups being: Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Catholics, and Jews. Also aside from those five there are many other large religious groups such as: The Greek Orthodox Church, the Bahai, the Masons, and Neo-African groups.

OM Panama also has an intensive International School of Missions for Central American Christians who wish to be trained in missions. After completing the school the students are able to go out through Operation Mobilisation to other mission fields throughout the world. Through the school the students who desire to develop their leadership skill for future leadership positions in their churches, or discover their ministry strengths can also accomplish this through the school.

The School of Missions was first started in February of 2002 and has continued with two schools annually since then. There have been ten schools up to this date which an average of 10-15 students in each school who have been equipped to go either into full time missions with OM international or in the OM Ships. Many have also gone into leadership positions in their local churches.

Each school is three intensive months with one month and a half of classes on various subjects in relation to missions. In this time the students are able to see their own gifts developed and use them in each town and church that supports them. The last month and a half is the outreach phase where the students are taken out for evangelism.

Since 2006 OM Panama has begun a program called Mission Extreme which is 1 to 2 months in length depending on the availability of the participants (they will choose). The program runs twice a year and is available for anyone from any nationality; however English is the official language of the school. This program gives the participants the opportunity to experience the different ethnic groups that Panama has. Each participant spends one week in the OM base for orientation and preparation. After this time the team will leave the base to serve among the indigenous Indians where the team will have to walk for several hours and then have an unforgettable experience. They will see the marvels of our Lord and demonstrate the love of God to all the needed people not only in material things but also in the spiritual.

After the outreach time the team will return to base camp where they will have the choice to return to their individual countries and homes, or they can choose to stay longer and continue to evangelize or even assist in our Easter week campaign which Operation Mobilisation has, it is in a different country every year.

OPERACIÓN MOVILIZACIÓN PANAMA (ESPAÑOL)

Operación Movilización Panamá inició formalmente en el año 1992 como encargado y representante en ese entonces con Fernando Brown, extripulante del barco Doulos y pastor de una iglesia local en la ciudad de Panama. Luego OM Internacional reconoció a Centro América como Campo Ministerial en el año 2000 con los siguientes cuatro Países: El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica y Panamá, a través de muchos evangelismos y reclutamientos como campañas de semana santa. Desde el año 2001 Roger Branda toma el cargo de Representante de OM Panama hasta hoy en día; en el cual tenemos las oficinas y centro de entrenamiento en la ciudad de Volcán, Provincia de Chiriquí.

El propósito de OM Panamá es movilizar a nuestros cristianos nacionales a involucrarse en las misiones mundiales transculturales y proveer entrenamiento para la iglesia evangélica. Nuestros programas están enfocados mas que todo para el área de difícil acceso y el área indígena de nuestro país, que son 4 tribus: Gnobe Buglé, Kuna, Emberá, Teribes. Panamá es llamado UN CRISOL DE RAZAS y los evangélicos también llaman a nuestro país como la VENTANA 10/40 de América ya que en ella se encuentran todas las etnias y 5 religiones mas grandes del mundo con sus respectivos templos y colonias en la ciudad de Panama. Ellos son los musulmanes, budistas, hinduistas, catolicismo, judaísmo y sin dejar por fuera otras grandes religiones como son la Iglesia Griega Ortodoxa, Grupo Bahai, Grupos Masones y grupos neo-africanos.

Tenemos también una Escuela Intensiva Internacional de Misiones para los cristianos de Centroamérica que deseen entrenarse en misiones y así poder salir con nuestra organización a otros campos en el mundo además para aquellos que quieren reforzar su liderazgo en su iglesia y encontrar sus habilidades en el ministerio. La Escuela de Misiones inició en febrero del 2002 con dos promociones al año respectivamente, hasta el momento tenemos 10 promociones de estudiantes que ya han sido capacitados y están actualmente en el campo o en los barcos de OM Internacional y también tomando cargos de pastorados en sus iglesias locales. Dicha escuela tiene una duración de 3 meses intensivos del cual mes y medio son teóricos y mes y medio prácticos. La parte practica los estudiantes pueden desempeñarse en todas las áreas que le han sido impartidas durante el tiempo teórico, así podrán ver sus habilidades y destrezas ellos mismos en cada uno de los pueblos e iglesias que apoyen con el ministerio.

Desde el pasado año 2006, iniciamos el programa de Misión Extrema con una duración de 1 a 2 meses, dependiendo de la disponibilidad del participante (pueden escoger) dos veces al año respectivamente para personas de cualquier parte del mundo (siempre y cuando hablen el idioma ingles). Este entrenamiento les dará un vistazo a los participantes a conocer las diferentes etnias que tenemos en nuestro país además de estar una semana en la base de OM para recibir un entrenamiento intensivo para entonces salir al campo a desempeñarse como misionero en el área indígena que tenemos, en donde deben de caminar por horas y tener una experiencia en grupo inolvidable y poder reconocer las maravillas de nuestro Señor y demostrar el amor de Dios a todas estas personas necesitadas tanto en lo material como en lo espiritual. Luego que el entrenamiento termine los participantes tienen la opción de escoger en regresar a sus países o quedarse un tiempo más a evangelizar en otros lugares de nuestro país o asistir a las campañas de Semana Santa que OM Centroamérica realiza todos los años en un país diferente.
