Our purpose is to support local church planting projects in their ministry to very poor people in several towns and villages of Romania where most of the population have never heard how to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

As a small team we will travel in two different areas of Romania and be part of the evangelistic Christmas celebrations in local church planting projects.

Ministry details

In each town the church leaders will introduce us to the specific spiritual needs of that place and the vision of the local congregation how to reach out to the lost. We will have fellowship with local believers and participate at evangelistic events of the churches, on the occasion of the Christmas celebrations. This will be also a great opportunity to discover how to become more involved in these ministries in the future and to build long term relationships with devoted Christian communities in Romania.

Participant profile

All participants should be physically fit, able to cope with cold weather, irregular meal schedules and long travels. Participants will need to be team players with a teachable heart and a willingness to submit and grow. Being flexible, forgiving, encouraging, and having a good sense of humor is essential.

We will stay in local church buildings or families. Please bring your sleeping bag with you. In some of the places toilet facilities may be very basic and shower facilities may be primitive and/or limited. There may not be laundry facilities.

We will provide the meals in partnership with the local church or the OM team and may have a rotating "kitchen help" schedule for you to be involved in.

Please arrange your travel to and from airport Henry Coandă, Otopeni (Bucureşti), airport code OTP. If you arrive before 3 pm, OM will pick you up there and arrange your ongoing travel. Please note that it may be necessary to wait at the airport for other international team members. Also for departure, please ensure your flight time is not before 11 am.

All applicants are required to have a complete Traveler's Medical Insurance policy to cover the entire period. Please contact the medical services in your home country for vaccination requirements. You need to be in good health to be able to participate with us. (Please let us know of any allergies/conditions during your application process.)

Those from countries within the EU and North America will not need a visa, others will need to check with their embassies for details.

The common team language will be English (or if required German) but the locals will speak Romanian. Do not expect them to know or be confident enough to speak English. There will be a translator on your team. We will send you in your acceptance pack some basic phrases to learn too (Handbook Welcome to Romania).
