Route du Rhum - Sailing Race Outreach

Come share the gospel with the masses gathered in Brittany this November for the world-class Route du Rhum sailing race! We will share the hope of the gospel with spectators, event organizers, skippers, and locals alike during the festivities that proceed the competitors' departure.

We will be partnering with local churches in the area to reach the thousands that flock to St. Malo, Brittany, for the world-renown sailing Race that happens every 4 years.

Participant profile

We are looking for people that are HUMBLE and ready to serve! A love for the sea and a heart for one of the least-reached nations in Europe is a bonus and flexibility is a must. French language skills are not required, but will propel you during outreach time.

We stay at a youth conference center. Participants can expect to sleep in dormitory-style same sex rooms. We will provide separate accommodation for families and married couples but childcare is not provided. Children will participate in outreach activities with the team..

We will eat most of our meals catered by the Centre des Jeunes or church members. Participants should be ready to help with setting up and doing dishes as needed.

We are usually able to accommodate special diets. Please let your home office rep know your dietary needs when you send your application.

Please be at the Centre des Jeunes (in St. Lunaire, outside of St. Malo) by 17:00 (5pm) on October 26. Participants can take trains into Saint Malo and we will bring them to the site. The outreach is over after church on Sunday, so don't plan to leave St. Malo before 13:00 (1 pm) Nov. 4.

Participants should be in reasonably good health, ready for an intense week. Any special needs (food allergies, special diet, a good bed due to back problems, etc.) must be communicated as early as possible so that organizers can prepare to receive that person! Each participant should arrange personal medical insurance to cover the period of the outreach.

Some participants may require a visa. Those participants will need to begin their application process with the OM office in their country at least one month in advance of the application deadline given here. Please contact the OM office in your country for more information.
