Gift of Retirement Funds

A Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) or Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) can offer significant benefits during your lifetime as a Tax-Deferred Savings Plan. If you wish to reduce the taxes which eventually must be paid, you can donate a portion of your savings to charity. A charitable donation receipt will help you offset these tax implications.

Naming OM Canada as a beneficiary of your retirement assets can do this for you. You would receive a donation receipt for the value of your entire gift, which at the same time lowers your estate taxes.

Please be sure to consult your tax advisor regarding how you can apply this and receive benefits.

If you wish to name OM Canada as a beneficiary, you can obtain a change of beneficiary form from your plan administrator and name Operation Mobilization as a beneficiary, of all or a percentage of your RRSP or RRIF account.

Here are two ways to donate the proceeds of an RRSP or RRIF:

  1. You can name Operation Mobilization as the direct beneficiary of your RRSP or RRIF. Upon your passing the proceeds will be paid directly to OM Canada without going through probate.
  2. You can name your estate as the beneficiary of your RRSP or RRIF and leave instructions in your Will (link) to donate all or part of your RRSP or RRIF to Operation Mobilization. You may specify a percentage of the RRSP or RRIF or a specific dollar amount to be donated.

Should you decide to name Operation Mobilization a beneficiary of your retirement fund assets, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. Notifying us of your plans will enable us to acknowledge your area of interest and keep you informed of the ministry on your heart. However, if you prefer to remain anonymous, we will keep your name and gift in strict confidence.
