On September 5th, Typhoon Yagi reached category 5 in the South China Sea and has reportedly impacted the Philippines, South China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
Combined with seasonal monsoon rains and the typhoon storm, several countries have experienced flash floods, flooding and landslides. The highest number of deaths, about 200 people, are currently reported in Vietnam.
Many of the countries impacted have had buildings and infrastructure damaged or destroyed. And there is still a risk of flooding and other damage in the coming days.
OM teams in South East Asia alongside local churches and partners are responding to the immediate and longer-term needs of communities impacted by flooding. These efforts may include food distribution, shelter repairs and other support as is needed in each community impacted.
Join us in praying for those affected, those who have experienced losses and those involved in rescue and disaster responses.
Give now to support the relief efforts in South East Asia and help share the hope found in Christ.
In the face of this typhoon and the need that all people in South East Asia have, we see an opportunity for the seeds of hope to be sown through the generous aid and prayers of fellow Jesus followers like you.
"Our soul waits for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
even as we hope in you."
Psalms 33:20-22 ESV
