Roma author Biljana’s first book published

A beautifully illustrated children’s storybook written by a Roma believer, is now in homes throughout Serbia. This summer in a special outreach promoting reading in segregated Roma villages, OM EAST partners distributed over 10,000 copies of four OM EAST and Roma Bible Union (RBU) publications, including the new fictional storybook The Cat and the Custard.

Illustrated and designed by OM EAST worker, Lenka, and written in Serbo-Croatian by author, Biljana, The Cat and the Custard teaches biblical truths. Drawing from real life situations, Biljana tells the story of a little girl called Ana who realises she needs Christ’s forgiveness and discovers a new way to live. Plans are brewing to produce this book in additional languages to impact more Roma children in Europe.

The recent launch caught journalists’ attention with representatives from Serbian national TV and radio arriving to interview the author. In another inspiring video promoting Biljana’s first published book, she motivates Roma to overcome doubts or discrimination and discover their God-given gifts, just as she was encouraged to do. Her own testimony speaks of grace, transformation and discovering the Lord’s plan for her life. “Don’t bury the gifts God has given you,” Biljana said, “but use them as blessings to other people and to the glory of God”.

Praise God for Biljana’s first publication, a significant milestone, and for many families reached in Serbia. Please pray whole families will be inspired to read, with a desire to know Jesus and discover His plan for their lives.
