One objective is to equip leaders so that they can return to their places of ministry better able to encourage culturally appropriate worship. Another key objective is to mentor facilitators who can conduct this seminar in years to come without our presence.

Heart Sounds International (HSI) is a ministry of OM Arts that focuses on encouraging indigenous worship around the world. As an HSI team, participants will partner with those in country to facilitate an  ethnodoxology  workshop, training leaders in how to encourage local people to work in indigenous styles.

“Ethnodoxologists  study how peoples around the world worship God and encourage them to create in response to God’s work in their lives” (quote by  ethnodoxologist  Robin Harris). Attendees of this  ethnodoxology  seminar will be from all over this Asian country and will include a variety of ethnic backgrounds. They are leaders in their churches and have already completed a fifteen-day discipleship course.

In 2017, HSI conducted a similar course. Attendees from this past course will now partner with the HSI team to co-teach this year’s course. Topics will include worship and culture, contextualized worship, worship and missions, ethnomusicology, and theology of worship.

The course will include songwriting sessions. The team will need to make basic, demo-level recordings of these new songs for distribution among the seminar participants.
