Journey Overview

After arriving in Rivne, you will be greeted by our Rivne team leader Oleg. OM team members and volunteers will lead you through orientation and after settling in, you will be divided into teams of two or more to serve in two warmed tents for around 8 hours per day. Participants might work in shorter shifts and there might even be night shifts depending on the ever changing situation. When not serving at the tent, you will be invited to join in youth meetings and other ministry of the local church, or resting in the OM dorm, where you will be staying. This outreach is part of OM's humanitarian ministry in partnership with local churches, volunteers, the police chaplaincy movement and the Rivne city counsel. There are over 6 million internally displaced in Ukraine. Rivne city is struggling with electricity and heat supply which prompted OM to start this tent ministry where people can charge a device, have a cup of tea, find a little warmth and rest.

Security and safety issues is being constantly monitored. If the OM leadership deems the situation unsafe for STM participants the STM will be canceled and this could happen at any moment. Rivne is more than 700 km from the closest front lines at present. You should be aware that the possibility of missile trikes to Rivne city remains as well as a new invasion from Belarus about 500km north of Rivne.
OM will take every precaution to ensure your safety, however you will be asked to sign an indemnity form.

What To Expect

Participants will work alongside Ukrainian volunteers to serve those left vulnerable because of the war in OM's warmed Coffee tent in Rivne. You may find yourself sharing the gospel while serving coffee or tea, cleaning up, playing with small children, helping a mother with a crying baby or be someone to practice english with. Prayer will also be a big part of this ministry and might need to be organised by participants themselves or might simply be praying for people visiting the tent.

Do I need to make my own travel arrangements?

At the moment there are no flights flying into Ukraine because of the war. You will need to travel to the city of Rivne by bus.
