International Disaster Response

Living out love when it's needed most

Answering real needs

In the aftermath of a disaster there is a special opportunity to help people who are suffering.

Our International Disaster Response (IDR) team is made up of staff and volunteers with extensive expertise and experience who can be called upon to support local teams to respond to a disaster wherever and whenever it may occur.

Our IDR team partners with our OM teams in all countries, providing specialist disaster response advise and drawing on their intimate, local knowledge in order to provide for those most in need.

We aim to mobilise the global Church to demonstrate the love of Christ for all people by providing support for communities in their greatest hour of need and beyond. The IDR team provides surge capacity, technical knowledge and specialist skills to support OM teams in developing their disaster responses; as well as training local staff and volunteers to not only respond to the current disaster but be better prepared for when it may occur again.

Disaster Response Training

Are you prepared to serve?

The Disaster Response Training (DRT) is an intensive, simulation-based course that will give you an overview of the disaster preparedness and response sectors. The DRT will help you develop your transferable skills with a view to using them in relief work. Successful completion will equip you to deploy in support of OM's disaster responses as part of our Volunteer Response Register. Whether you are already serving with OM, or if this is your first interaction with us, we welcome your application for the DRT. Applicants need to be at least 21 years old and have some international cross-cultural experience.
