Penang, Malaysia :: Doulos Hope volunteers help unload the very first container of books!

Books on board

Penang, Malaysia :: The first book container arrives to Doulos Hope!

In just over one month’s time, Doulos Hope’s bookfair will officially open to the public for the very first time. With the exciting arrival of the first container-load of books last week, the ship’s small volunteer team got swiftly to work filling the book hold in the vessel’s lower decks.

Elsewhere, all remaining technical projects have now been completed, while much of the practical tasks of ‘moving-in and setting up’ are well underway in the ship’s current berth in Penang, Malaysia.

Meanwhile, preparations to get ready for the planned opening in Singapore this May are in full swing.

However with the aim of having over 140 crewmembers come September, efforts to communicate the need for volunteers continue.

Community leader Mark Knight (UK) said, "We have 22% of the staff and crew needed. Please pray with us for more crew and finance."
