Samuel Krishnan’s experiences visiting ministries dealing with addiction while he was serving on board Doulos in 1996 – 1998 would shape his future path. Now a pastor in charge of Shalom Community Character Development Centre in Pedas Seremban, Ministry of Damansara Utama Methodist Church, Samuel remembers the creative and new ways for helping addiction recovery that he had been exposed to many years ago as a new believer on Doulos.

Samuel Krishnan was a relatively new believer when he joined Doulos from 1996-1998. His experiences of living with different cultures, seeing God work through the ship ministry and being mentored by godly leaders, shaped his faith tremendously.  There were many incidents where God made the impossible, possible, both in and out of port.  These encouraged Samuel to trust and serve God faithfully. What he didn’t know then was how his visits at every port to churches, prisons and ministries helping individuals struggling with addiction would shape his future path. Now a pastor in charge of the Shalom Community Character Development Centre in Damansara Utama Methodist Church, Samuel realized that his views for recovery with creative and new ways for those trapped in the bondage of addiction had been shaped during those long ago days on Doulos. Despite challenges, he is also able to trust that God would provide for the needs of the ministry and that individual lives would encounter God and be transformed. He is grateful for the friendships he made on board that he has maintained as these friends still encourage and spur him on till today.
