Share love with the friendly and hospitable people of Thailand: the ‘land of smiles’, despite its people’s homelessness, poverty and disabilities.

Share the love of God practically

The ‘Amazing Love House’ in Thailand, run by one of our partners, shares God’s love by helping disabled children with their education or learning vocational skills after graduating from middle or high school. Through language learning and vocational training, team members bring in diverse training opportunities depending on their personal skill set.

Share love with the hundreds of homeless people living at a Bangkok train station, through giving away free hot meals and clothing. Or come and share love in a small town by running a Kids’ Club and teaching Sunday School. “I often end up in spiritual conversations initiated by local people,” says an international team member. “It is very easy for foreigners to make friends.”

Jesus followers in Thailand

Buddhism is the national religion, mixed with Hinduism and Animism. Christianity came to Thailand almost 200 years ago, yet only 1.3 per cent of the population are Christians, making it one of the least-reached areas in the world. 85 per cent of the population are Buddhist, and 8.5 per cent are Muslims. As an exciting hub to a variety of Jesus followers, many network with partners and churches to reach out to local communities. Motivating believers to share God’s love with others and inter-connect both locally and internationally is a focus for the 21st century.

As a Jesus follower, you can share love through relationships, simply by sharing your personal testimony and how God has changed your life. You may be the first Jesus follower a local person meets. “In Thailand, people believe in thousands of gods,” explained the OM team leader. “When we share with them about our God, sometimes they get confused because they don’t know which god we are talking about.” The team and local believers need wisdom in how to share the love of Jesus, revealing the God of the Universe from other gods, with Jesus as the only way to reach God.

You will always work to support local partners within the country, using your skills and personal faith to bless the people in the ‘land of smiles’.

Whether you come for a long, or short time, or whether you pray, or invest in lives through financial support, there are many ways for you to share God’s love with the people in Thailand.
