One of the most desperate needs in Moldova is the huge number of neglected old people who suffer extreme poverty with no-one to care for them. Their very small pensions cover only a tiny fraction of even the most basic needs, while many are also sick or bedridden and depend on others for most tasks.

In our Elderly Care projects we enable local churches to provide a daily warm meal for the neediest elderly in their communities. In some places the elderly can meet and eat together at the church and thus also enjoy fellowship; others are visited at home, where the church workers also provide practical help around the house, but most of all accord the elderly time and attention. Despite the severity of their physical needs, what weighs on the old people even heavier is the sense of loneliness and despair. The care they receive often leads them to ask questions about God and several have turned to faith and received hope and a purpose beyond their immediate need and suffering.
