The presence of OM Riverboats and OM France in Strasbourg gave a new burst of encouragement, energy and ideas to existing ministries. All onshore events that took place were made possible by the collaboration amongst churches and organisations and the participation of believers, local and abroad.

Change in Audience

Due to publicity in various secular media in Strasbourg, France, many non-believers visited the Riverboat and went through The Agency. Although the escape room was created with a primary focus to mobilise Christians, OM Riverboats and OM France have worked together to make adjustments in the simulation to suit non-believers better.

Thank You Event in Strasbourg

Strasbourg is one of the busiest ports with many onshore events taking place during the Riverboat’s two weeks stay. This is attributed to the help and support extended through partners from churches and key local Christian organisations like the L’Entente des Églises Protestantes Évangéliques de l'Eurométropole de Strasbourg (EEPEES).

God's Perfect Timing

The Riverboat’s last port of call, Strasbourg, France, includes something no other port has offered its visitors so far: the chance to meet 32 port volunteers from around the world. This large number of volunteers is due to OM France’s initiative in actively encouraging people to come and experience missions in France from anywhere else in the world.

Discovering the Light

A 14-year-old girl, Nele*, decided to face up to her fear of darkness by requesting her parents to bring her to the OM Riverboat again, after she had a panic attack the first time she went through The Agency experience.

From Snow Fight to Outreach

It all started with a snowball fight. Community members coming from warmer countries rushed out on the quayside on a beautiful white morning as the heavy snowfall blanketed the surroundings in tranquillity. For some, it was their first time experiencing snow. Inevitably, a snowball fight soon erupted. In the midst of screams and shouts, those caught in the crossfire quickly noticed two men hurling snowballs at them - two unfamiliar faces joining in the fun.

Becoming Certified Agents

Disguised in different roles–from rebellious teenagers to homeless people to prostitutes and pimps–community members responsible for the onshore segment of The Agency experience act out the types of least reached people in society. This modern way of reinforcing the mission of Jesus-followers has been very well received amongst participants.

Beer Bottles, Confetti and the Gospel of John

As ‘Karneval’ goers decked out in their craziest costumes flooded the bars in Bonn, Germany, Riverboat community members armed themselves with flyers, the Gospel of John and a guitar and headed out on the streets to pray. ‘Karneval’ refers to the yearly carnival celebrations, with the actual carnival week beginning on Fat Thursday (8 February 2018).

Despite the limited amount of cabins on board the Riverboat, one cabin was specially set aside as a prayer room to encourage intercessory prayer at all times.
