In the Bible, we can read about Jesus’ life when He was here on earth - what he did, where he went, the people he spoke to, the things he said and.. the questions he asked. In the Gospels, Jesus is recorded to have asked over 300 questions!! Way more questions than he even answered himself.
When we are CURIOUS, we are eager to learn or know something – and a great way for us to do this is by asking questions. The conversations that Jesus had with people often started with a question; questions to teach them, help them discover for themselves who He was, challenge ideas they had, allow them to grow and, always, to point them to ultimate Truth, to Himself.
Jesus invites us to follow Him – on a faith journey which is full of wonder and a God who is so amazing that we will spend a lifetime learning about Him. When we look at the questions Jesus asked- we can start understanding and discovering who He is, what is important to him why He came and what He calls us to. And when we model Jesus and ask questions about God, life, ourselves and others, we have the chance to grow in our faith and go deeper in our relationship with Him.
Where do we go with our questions about who we are, our purpose, our life experiences, the world we live in? Individually and together with others, we can go to God. God welcomes our curiosity, He welcomes our questions and our doubts and invites us to come to Him as we search for answers.
During CURIOUS this year we will look at some questions Jesus asked, discover what we can learn or know from the conversations he had and ask our questions too. Together we want to be curious about our faith, be persistent as we follow Jesus and eagerly desire to learn and grow as we walk together with a God who is bigger than our wildest imaginations and who loves us more than we can ever measure!
18 Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” 20 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” (Luke 9:18,20)
