FEATURED VIDEO: FREEDOM CHALLENGE
"He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners..." – Isaiah 61:1b
Why is OM concerned about a hard-to-measure concept like justice?
First, because God is serious about justice, and we want to reflect Him in all we do. Second, because there is so much injustice in our world, we must move from lamenting or ignoring it to winning it for one person at a time.
Advocating for justice is concerned with the deeper, often invisible forces in societies, not only their consequences. Behind child labour is a lack of systems for children's rights, and women caught in sex work often have no alternatives for income.
Working for justice involves showing compassion to the oppressed and wronged in practical ways, like skills training or pursuing legal campaigns to raise awareness in the world and among God's people.
You may have a deep compassion for those suffering injustice, legal training or other means of identifying and confronting underlying issues. You may have the ability to communicate the cause of justice. All these talents and more can be used to fight for justice, because everyone has the dignity of being made in God's likeness.
It's time to speak for those who cannot. What do you have to say?
