Sharing the love of God in a hurting country

Cambodia, home to about 16 million people, bears the scars of the Khmer Rouge regime's brutal reign, resulting in political turmoil and mass genocide. Despite strides in recovery, Cambodia contends with the lingering aftermath, charactarised by persistent issues like poverty, deficient infrastructure, and a delicate political environment. The tragic events left an indelible mark on the nation, impacting the cultural and educational landscape. The devastating aftermath has left communities grappling with profound challenges, including homelessness, financial destitution, and a pervasive burden of debt. Many face the harsh realities of survival, struggling with limited resources and opportunities.

Despite the significant number of Cambodians living in poverty, a distinct group of individuals exists who are exceptionally wealthy, highlighting a substantial socioeconomic gap within the country. OM Cambodia seeks to address these pressing issues, offering hope and tangible support to those navigating the complexities of post-Khmer Rouge Cambodia.

Holistic Outreach to Slum Communities

OM in Cambodia's Transformational Development Centre in Phnom Penh adopts a holistic approach to uplift slum children and their immediate family circles. Through dynamic children's programs, we share the good news of the one true God, embedding Biblical values in their lives. Each session concludes with a nutritious meal, addressing immediate health concerns. Social Work Counselling (Project Freedom) provides crucial counselling for child intervention and abuse prevention. Prioritising education, we offer English classes and family sponsorship, opening pathways for growth. Engaging parents through Bible study ensures a comprehensive impact, fostering an environment of goodness at home, creating a transformative, holistic experience for vulnerable children.

OM in Cambodia also conducts weekly bible study groups with the different groups of the slum community, including the widows, the homeless and the men. By actively engaging slum communities through diverse programs- the envisioned outcome is to witness children and their families being empowered by the transformative power of Christ to overcome their situational challenges. The overarching vision is to cultivate vibrant communities of Jesus followers, bringing positive changes in attitude, lifestyle, and faith.

Equipping Pastors for Community Restoration

OM in Cambodia sets out to empower pastors across Cambodia. In the historical trauma's aftermath, pastors find themselves grappling with limited resources and educational opportunities, hindering their ability to provide comprehensive guidance and support to their communities. Currently, OM in Cambodia conducts regular training sessions with pastors in six provinces, bridging the educational gap caused by historical challenges. Empowered with this knowledge, pastors can effectively guide and teach their congregants, fostering spiritual growth and community resilience.
